This is a fabulous routine for audiences with a bit of patience and decent attention spans. It
really does knock them over.
But like Anonymous, I thought the constraints seemed a bit
suspicious. One way I've found to mute them, hopefully make them less noticeable, is to reverse the
direction of the mentalism. I "send" the spectators the numbers for #1 & #2. "I know this is a bit
hard," I say, "so I'll help you a bit: the number is odd. What number am I seeing in my mind's
eye? Do you see it?" Etc., etc. The directive gets kinda lost in all the pseudo mentalism patter.
I guess this is still a constraint, but cast in this telepathy mode I don't think it seems as
suspicious *telling* the spectator he has to come up with an odd number. To keep this theme going,
when I get to #3, I claim the spectator is at a high level of psychic ability and is already reading
my mind. "I know you see in your mind the card I'm seeing. What is it?"
You might give
this spin/twist a try and see what you think.
Either way you play "Trilogy," it is the most
startling triple prediction around.
