It is almost impossible not to like John Archer, which is no doubt the secret behind his success.
His comedic skills and ability to engage with the audience are tremendous. This is a large part of
what you are getting here, beyond the basics of how to do blindfold. The man has been doing this for
a long time, and he tells you how to get out of toush situations based on his experiences (e.g.,
when things go wrong and you cannot see, audience management, how to save your eyebrows, etc.) but
the real value is watching how he handles spectators.
Now, I cannot do John's routine
because, frankly, part of the reason he can do some of the things he can do (e.g., how he comes on
to the girl volunteer and it's really funny) wouldn't work with my persona, even if my wife was cool
with it, lol. But there are great ideas here, regardless, that can be adapted. I can however see
someone being disappointed who wanted more ideas about how to structure a serious blindfold routine,
do alternate stunts (like driving a car) etc. None of that is on here, you just get a very simple
approach and John's thoughts about it.
The actual mechanics of blindfold are rather simple.
If you want to learn how to do it, this is a good resource. If you want to learn how to do it and
get ideas for being funny with it, this is a great resource.
