Ignore the reviewer who gives this a low rating. This is one of the best purchases out there for
mentalism, by far. The value here far exceeds the cost.
What you are provided is a variety
of solid mentalism effects that Colin has used in his own performances. I count 15 total effects (9
stage and 6 close-up), and each one is discussed at length, with numerous subtleties, and Colin
performs it live as well (and then discusses what went right and wrong about the audience portion).
The cost for 4 DVDs here is a bargain.
Of the 9 stage effects, 6 for me were things I would
have paid three times the cost of the DVDs for. They are things that I will work into my routine,
and the reaction from these is amazing. Colin offers one of the best ungimmicked book test effects I
have ever seen -- possibly the very best.
This is material for workers, not something to
show your friends. They employ classic principles in mentalism, in some cases, but brought up to
date and routined for impact. If you have been looking for some material for strolling and close-up,
a couple of the close-up effects are equally as strong (though a few aren't).
Part of the
difficulty in assigning a rating is that the effects presented are not all equally as strong. Which
is true of every DVD and book I have ever purchased. I guess the other reviewer got fixated on an
effect he didn't like.
The good news is that some of these are absolutely brilliant, and
worth the entire price of the DVDs. You will get several effects from this that will go right into a
working parlour/stage performance.
