Disclaimer: I don't know how other wax compares.

You get a LOT of wax, pressed into 1" square cubes. The wax is very sticky, and quite transparent, but also surprisingly hard. I had imagined it would be easier to shape. Perhaps this is not a desirable quality for magician's wax? Once you've managed to break off a piece you can knead it into the shape you need - but it doesn't really soften up much.
