Many have reported this is a beginner DVD. And yes, maybe it is. I am new to color changes so guess
would be branded a beginner in this area. I have played around with changes I have run across over
the years but never perfected them so figured a DVD would be helpful.
To my disappointment,
Jay is not the best teacher, or at least it was not edited that way.
The DVD is more of a how
to rather than in depth instruction.
Proper instruction would have been to assume the user
knows nothing on the subject and go into the fine points of whata beginner might encounter and how
to avoid it. (Like avoiding clicks or flash or fine points of the place to look like a wave of the
hand . This DVD pretty much just goes through the basics so not really a teaching session.
Many of the changes are great for CAMERA, one on one or distance with audience in front. There
are more changes than not that look good on video but I find it hard to believe anyone uses this in
a normal performance. THe changes that are one handed would have major angle issues if you can
not control your audience.
The Dirty Work section is major failure. It is not helpful
with the hands blocking most of the moves.
Conclusion, for $5 and if you are new to
changes, it might be helpful but do not expect to become a master at changes from this. Honestly
many of these can sadly be found exposed on the net and in some cases taught better. Sorry Jay.
