When I learned the method, I was unimpressed and very concerned. It was very different than other
book tests I have used. The method is far from fool-proof and is dependent on you observing your
participant. Ironically, this is a children's book, but I have found the primary method works better
on adults!
I have performed this a couple dozen times now and have received mixed
reactions. I will continue to perform this because I like the danger of failure with mentalism and I
can sell it with presentation whether I succeed or fail. It's a mentalism trick, it's good show some
failure sometimes.
Also, if you're not comfortable reading body language (which you WILL
need to do if the primary method fails...which it probably will fail) then this is not for you.
2 stars since this is not as robust as many "standard" book tests and you can't turn your back
on the spectator.
If you want a truly amazing, organic book test, I highly recommend you
pony up the dough and buy Tru Test from Penguin. That is spectacular!
