Colin McLeod is a tinkerer. By that I mean he likes to tinker with established methods and routines
and put his own slant on them. Nothing wrong with that. We should all modify routines to our taste,
but most of us do not release our modifications as hard backed books, priced at $100.
If
you have liked Colin's previous work you will doubtless enjoy this book, but for me too much of the
material was unoriginal and the additions were almost always an unnecessary complication on the
originals.
The opening effect, the best in the book, is extremely strong, though. I would,
however, use another method that would make everything examinable.
