When I choose to perform mentalism at a gig, I use Mastermind as my closing effect, it is an incredibly strong closer.

I'll mail an envelope to my customer with instruction written on a smaller envelope inside stating: "DO NOT OPEN; bring this envelope with you to the show."

A volunteer is chosen, the Mastermind deck is spread face up to show that the cards are all different. The deck is then turned face down, shuffled any number of times, then spread out on the table. A participant is asked to touch any card. He is offered to change his mind any number of times until he feels that he's made a completely free choice of a card.

Then I turn the rest of the deck face up again and spread them out. I now lift his face down select card, showing it only to him without even looking at it myself. I ask him to memorize his card and then I place it back on the table, face down. Now he's told to look at the rest of the face up deck to assure that there are no duplicates to his selected card.

I now ask that the envelope be opened and for the volunteer to read the prediction. The participant chokes on his words as he reads that my prediction matches his selection! I lift his chosen card and appear shocked myself at seeing it, then I show it to the audience.

I'm now walking on water!
