Because this is so awesome that I don't want people doing it badly and letting everyone in on the
secrets in this amazing video!!
This is card magic at it's finest, in my opinion! It's in
no way easy to do, but if you put in the time and have some audience management skills under your
belt, then it doesn't get any better than this. "Double Exposure" is incredibly baffling for laymen.
"A.A.C.A.A.N." although not groundbreaking in method, is soon going to become my favorite within
that plot. Once I become comfortable with the handling that is.
These routines all use
intermediate to advanced card control, and attention management (misdirection).. If you're not ready
to put in the time it takes to master these routines, than you have no business learning them, and
you should probably move on to something else. It would be grave mistake to try and perform these
when you're not ready, and ruin the overall effect these can have on your participants. I can
personally execute every one of the moves needed, but I'm still gonna practice the heck out of them
before I ever try and perform them in public.
I do think I should mention for those of you
who haven't yet memorized a stack in numerical order, you'll need to do that first, before you can
perform AACAAN, this fact holds true to most ACAANs, but not all. However the description says "no
additional setup", which is true, but don't let that fool you, you do need a setup, initially!
I really don't want to recommend this DVD to anyone, As cliche as this statement is, I really
mean it! I love all three of these routines so much, that I really would love to be the only one
performing any of them, but hey, I didn't create them, so I can't stop them from getting out onto
the market,.. In which case I can only thank Asi Wind for sharing them with us!
Please
don't perform this stuff out there badly, these routines deserve your utmost attention to every
intricate detail, and can become so very powerful in the right hands, don't let your hands be the
wrong ones. I just learned these routines today, and I can't wait to try them out, but I'm not
ready.
To sum up, if you're a beginner, don't bother. If you are up to par with cards, then
this is stuff you will definitely wanna use. One of my favorite parts about it is that "Double
Exposure" alone is not only worth the price of the DVD and-then-some, but it can be done impromptu,
truly any time, with any deck. Without prior preparation! Aside from practice of course.
Oh, and btw! I wanted to add this, and then forgot to mention it while I was writing. I really like the fact that Asi gives you a couple different varying approaches, along with performances. ie,. my favorite one "Double Exposure", you can do an advanced version, where you straiten out the cards in reality, and have the photo change as the more surreal, 2nd climax. It just takes a little more work. Or you can just skip that part and go for the jugular, by showing the photo changed on their camera, after some byplay, acting as if the something went wrong with the cards, or that it was meant that way all along, etc,.. Which can thus fit any personal style you may have. (If you like the concept of the picture captured, and changing into something else on the spectator's phone, also check out Justin Miller's "Smile" where a single "wrong" card, changes into a "right" card in the snapshot. Similar plot, completely different approaches. I've been using that one for a while and it's easier to execute, and it fools laymen)
I really appreciate it when teachers go for the encyclopedic approach to instructional videos. This gets my own personal creative juices flowing, and allows me to think about effect stacking, structure and how things can fit together in a routine. It's more modular thinking, and teaching. As opposed to many videos I've purchased where it's someone giving you a secret, with one application, and swear to you how sure-fire it is, and how it's only limited by your imagination, and blah, blah, blah! Many of you who've been spending your hard earned cash on these things will know what I'm talking about! One I purchased recently in that category, that I caught heat on for mentioning it, was Double Deception Deluxe! A gaff capable of dozens of possibilities, with a short description about ONE routine, done with 3 different handlings! I lowered it's rating in my review, in part just for that reason.
Just to be clear, this DVD is not like that. It's short, sweet and to the point, but Asi gives you a couple different approaches, actual paths to follow, that I'm sure will all lead you to a mind-blowing successful routine.
~~The Stealth Magician
I agree! Don't buy unless you feel like wasting your money on a trick that is not explained properly with the assumption that the purchaser has knowledge of deck setups. How does this guy say that most decks are set up in the "Monica" (sic) order. My decks do not come in a set up order as far as I know. Mabe in his country they do, but not in the USA. I have no idea what he is talking about and his dialect does not help. This DVD should be captioned for the hearing impaired, but as to presentation. Asi Wind should stick to magic as he is a horrible teacher. Love to get my money back on this.
