I performed this effect 40 years ago. The paper was a little heavier and the dimensions bigger (4"!!): better for the stage, and it read "FRESH FISH SOLD HERE TODAY" giving another level for the patter. The feke was affixed behind "FRESH" so the first tear put the feke in position.
