If Chris Capehart never taught a trick and just told stories and went into how to make money
performing on the streets, then it would have been enough for me.
This lecture is
definitely among my favorite lectures. Through his stories and insights into street audiences and
street performing, Chris is always teaching.
Dan Harlan had to keep reminding him to pause
and show how he did a trick because he was just so engaged with the audience and is an incredible
storyteller.
How he works audiences, how he builds a crowd, how he gets money in play and
other advice about the business/money side of magic is well worth the investment.
Miser's
Dream has been a favorite of mine since first seeing it performed on television, and I think it was
Norm Nielsen. However, I have never been able to perform it at a level that I felt was good enough
for my audiences. Chris will make you want to add the Miser's Dream and the Linking Rings into your
routine.
There is so much to being a Master Magician, as Chris Capehart is, and I so
appreciated learning what happens in and through and around the tricks instead of merely the tricks
themselves.
I cannot recommend this lecture highly enough. I am telling you, you will be
stealing his lines, performing some of his routines and creating your own effects.
This
lecture was entertaining and inspiring.
p.s. This was another lecture I "stumbled" upon
almost by accident. I have a theory when buying Penguin Live lectures. If I want one, I will buy the
All Access Pass on the day of the lecture I want. If I prepay for just one lecture it is . I am sure
I will like one of the other lectures I get. So, if I want one, I get the pass. It is just the best
value.
