After receiving the lecture notes, "Skybound" from the Master Magician, Eric Stevens, I was greatly
impressed with what he had to say. Please let me share his words. "Figuring out which pieces of
magic work best for your set and its accompanying performance space can sometimes be difficult, but
determining an effective opening and a closer requires a deeper level of thought in order to get the
best reactions from your spectators". Each one of these nine effects could be your opener or your
closer.
When I attended Mr. Stevens lecture, I personally witnessed the presentation and
the audiences reactions of several of the 9 effects published. "Lazybones" happened to be one of
them. The interesting thing about this effect is that any small items can be used such as coins,
"Lifesavers" or nuts ( like nuts and bolts ). The effect "Happenstance" is one of my personal
favorites since I was personally involved with it. It is a gem with many facets. Another effect I
became involved with is the "Gradual Ruben". The chosen card is sandwiched by two indifferent cards.
It is guaranteed not to leave a sour taste in your mouth. "The Wall" is an ingenious use to divine a
premonition from a spectator. Its applications are vast.
These routines are well thought
of and audience tested. Any one of these effects could be your opener or your closer. It is your
choice. I tip my hat to Mr. Stevens and thank him for sharing his ideas
