The preview video is very miss leading the write up reads “Ask your participants to visualize each digit of their secret code while you look into their eyes. Then reveal their exact code, digit per digit.” And the video said “They don’t say anything”, “They don’t write down anything” “yet, you get their code”.
When without giving away the trick you have to use cards to find the passcode to the phone. I watched someone preform the trick at my club and they woman spectator had a confused look on her face, she then ask the guy preforming the trick “why the cards”.
I use a trick called Code Breaker on the same woman, she was blown away.

I agree that Michael's genius is reflected in his great Code Breaker routine, which is purely made for IPhones in contrast to Codino.

Now to your experience: The success of a performance is mainly based on two key factors: the performance skills of the magician and the strength of the method itself. You mention that you had more success with Code Breaker than another person with Codino. This could simply prove that you are by far the better performer at equal strength of method. Of course, Code Breaker and Codino are very different methods and it is absolutely not my aim to compare them.

Since Codino is a mentalism routine, it is important to provide a framework for the routine: During the explanation video you see that I usually say to my participants that virtually all people have a lot of thoughts in their mind. Under that condition, reading the mind is impossible due to the information overflow. But if the mind is focussed onto a single visual aspect, reading mental images from their eyes may become possible.

The number cards that are shown in the trailer are made to visually focus their minds. Those provided cards each have a number printed in large on one side and they are gray on the other side so that no-one can see through. Whilst the mentalist looks away the participants can look at their digits and thereby make a mental imprint. Once they're done, they place the cards face down on the table. Now, the mentalist turns around and asks the participants to visualize each digit of their secret code while he looks into their eyes and points to each face-down number card on the table. Then the mentalist reveals their exact code, digit per digit before touching any card.
That is Codino.

Now, let's be fair: You are correct: the trailer video says: “They don’t say anything”, “They don’t write down anything” “yet, you get their code”. And that is absolutely true for Codino: The participants don't write down anything and they don't need to say anything before the revelation of the code. That can be verified with all the full length performance videos included in the explanation video. So the quoted claims hold true.

In addition, please feel free check out the bonus routines, two of those four are not based on the main Codino method and have proven to work well both on stage and on the street.
