You'll need to see all the variations in the PH True Astonishments set to see why you'd want to have more than one pen.

For the refill price though, they should have at leadt already assembled it already for you.

Use the spare pen for practice or modify it yourself to use it as a gimmick for a different routine (which is what I did).
