Been around in the magic for over 40 years and i was stunned of how poorly this trick was. In the
video U´ll never see cards or anything that can help out but the whole trick is based on cards with
numbers on them. Okey.....if we just accept that fact.
Then the second surprice comes !!
On
a few cards faces is a link for a webbsite, it says: www.dant.de/codino !!!
I have never seen
prop with names on them before, so that was a news for me.
As someone mentioned before a
centertear works better than this. This trick would fit nicely in a magicbox for beginners at a
shopping mall !!!
Thanks for purchasing Codino and for taking the time to review it.
To be honest, your one star review puzzles me because you mention two points that have surprised you although the necessary information is mentioned several times in the ad copy.
1) Your first surprise is the use of "cards". Cards are mentioned in the first sentence of the ad copy. Cards can also be seen in the hands of the lady on the video title image. They are shown in several scenes throughout the promotional video [0:41, 1:09, 1:43, 2:00, 2:10]. And they are shown in many of the images of the picture gallery.
2) Your second surprise is the "link" shown on some cards. Again, what you see on this page is what you get. Look at the picture in the image gallery where the number cards are shown. The link is printed very small only below the numbers 6 and 9 and looks like a line. This line below those numbers helps during the routine to avoid confusing the numbers 6 and 9 in case they are upside down in the stack of cards. As the link is small and only below two of the 10 numbers chances are extremely slim that your spectators get any chance to spot it. And even if they spot it and take the effort to memorize it and look it up, they can see the trailer video on that page, and thereby find out that the effect has also fascinated others, that's it. So, even in this unlikely event it is no loss for you.
What you describe in the last sentence underlines that the effect is easy to learn. That was my intention.
I agree with you about the beauty of a center tear in certain situations. Now imagine that you aim to do a mentalism routine using pre-show, where you want to reveal personal information that cannot be forced. In that case you could use Codino during pre-show. Then on stage you ask your spectator: "Did you say anything about it or did I ask you to write down anything?" The answer with Codino will be a clear "no". The same cannot be achieved with a center tear. And this is just one idea, where Codino can be very useful. Please try it out and you will be surprised about the many benefits you will discover.
