If you're looking for some casual street mentalism effects this might be for you. Bunny Star, peek
wallet with a normal wallet, and iBillet (see below) were my favorites. There were product quality
issues with proofreading and with the explanations, however, I did like his including videos in the
PDF. I think I'm being a little generous considering the price, but OVERALL RATING: 3/5
Dear Walnut: The effect is that you can divine an audience member's favorite song. The method is
clever, but it only works in certain situations with certain iOS versions and you must have
knowledge of the person's musical tastes RATING: 1/5
iBillet: 4 methods are taught to peek
information written on a smartphone. The first two are clever but you use your own phone (any
smartphone should work) RATING: 4/5 Number 3 only works with certain iPhones RATING 2/5 The last
version is referenced but not really explained RATING 1/5
Bunny Star: This is a good
psychometry-style effect using your own business cards (it may not work with all business cards, but
other items could easily be adapted). Basically, you divine which business card the audience member
wrote on and what they wrote on the business card. RATING 4/5
D&G: I think this is the
"EXTREMELY mind-baffling and tightly structured 10 minute" stage routine. However, I don't think it
would take 10 minutes, be baffling, or that many people would feel comfortable doing this. He even
says this "d*** r****** is very likely to collapse." RATING 1/5
He also has a section on
how to "save your money" using normal or inexpensive items as props. Some ideas were very unclear
or just not explained well, but a few were good, especially using a normal wallet as a peek wallet
RATING: 3/5
Hey man, thanks for the review! It's good to see reviews of my book :D
And umm.. Not trying to defend myself or anything(maybe I am..) I am pretty sure I included a method that works with any iOs versions at the with big and bold letter saying "PLEASE NOTE..." Maybe I wasn't clear enough in that part haha My fault :P
And for D&G, I said it is better if used as I.S. instead of DR because you can get most out of it if you use IS instead. And I have been using this routine for a long time now and it is still one of the most talked about routine I have ever performed.
"Hey, long time no see. How have you been? Oh, do you remember that carrot box thing you did? That was crazeeeeee!!!" says many people. Since you said not many people would feel comfortable doing this, I assume you haven't tried it out yet. Maybe you can actually try it out and see how people react to it before saying it is not baffling(this is not an offensive tone :P)
However, I'm glad you liked some stuff in my book :)
PS: people always say "That's crazeeeeeeeee. Get it? because your name is zee. hahahaha" and I force myself to laugh with them :/
PPS: Dear potential customers, although I mentioned carrot a moment ago, pxxxxxxxxxxxx-fxxxx does not involve in this routine.
btw, about the unclear thingy in "Save your money" section, I am pretty sure you are referring to that "green" gimmick. I think I did not go into how to use it in the book because I assumed everyone who has basic knowledge of mentalism should be able to know how to use these kind of gimmicks. I would love to go in depth and explain how to use it if you don't already do.
PS: Just a quick question... Why does the performer has to know the musical taste of the participant in order to perform "Dear Walnut"? I don't see the necessity of knowing the musical taste of others in this effect. I think it is like any other billet routines. Just.. do the thing and call yourself a psychic(not really). Unless this person listens to foreign songs that even titles are foreign languages.
