Those were my exact words when I finished this reading from cover to cover. I’m assuming the $50 price tag is to protect the concept behind this effect (which, by the way, is nothing really revolutionary). Unfortunately, the price tag is certainly not reflective of the content you receive. In terms of content, you pretty much receive the concept behind the effect, one presentational idea, possible dialogue to use in that presentation (i.e. one script), and extra ideas (some of which are vague at best). Yes, the first part of the secret is very “simple and devious,” but where I have the biggest issue is the execution of the second piece of dirty work. It’s not really well explained and just provides general instruction to perform an action best left to the performer’s imagination to figure out. Without more detail, I’m not sure the action is really clean, unless you have some other device to assist you in carrying it out (e.g. I personally could see Kaylor’s “Any Signed Card to Any Spectator's Wallet” being helpful in this regard). Also, it doesn’t provide much detail around envelope types and sizes except, “You need a big envelope and a smaller envelope.” This missing detail is rather important due to the second piece of dirty work that needs to be executed. I would probably not recommend performing this by itself as a closer. You will want to ensure the prediction at the end contains other reveals from the show that you can predict ahead of time to make it somewhat memorable.
