Wonder Floating Balloon by Ryota isn't going to fool any magicians. Most of us who have been in
magic longer than a couple days have seen this effect already in other formats. Ryota's cleverness
is in how he applied it to a balloon. That being said what this is, or more accurately where the
magic in this lays is in the power of presentation. There is a lot of strong mime work that needs
to go into this effect to sell it. This isn't a trick you just buy and go do. Without a strong
theatrical presentation, to which it lends itself beautifully to, this will fall flat.
I
give this effect 3 stars because mostly due to the props. They are cheaply made. I'm almost
certain that I'll probably end up playing around with making the gimmick out of higher end material
for my stage use.
The DVD has some great points on it, and is well taught. For the right
magician, in the right hands, with the right motivation this could be a really nice bit of magic.
