Four of my friends and I drove out to long Island yesterday to experience the 2nd Penguin Magic Expo
in our area. What a great event. I got to meet some great people as well as buy some things that
I've wanted for a while. I talked with Meir Yedid for a little while. He has always been an
inspiration to me. He is such a nice guy and very easy to talk to. I bought his latest version of
his Walking On Water book test which is a lot of fun.
I met and spoke with Christian Schenk
from Card Shark in Germany - the producer of Phoenix Cards (For starters) and many great effects. I
bought a S.U.M. deck and an effect called ESPionage. Both of which are similar to other marketed
effects but I prefer the secret made by Card Shark. Christian is another fellow who was easy to talk
to and it was a pleasure meeting him.
I spoke with Brent from Penguin Magic for a few minutes
and I was impressed that he remembered my name since the last time we met in person was last year.
I saw Ron from Ronjo magic and he invited me to come out to the shop (Which I plan on doing
soon, Ron!)
I had a pleasant conversation with Chris Smith from MagicSmith. He's always very
nice. I like his products very much as well.
Mark Mason was his usual jovial self and it was
a pleasure seeing him again too.
Of course there were others there as well but I'm a little
pressed for time here while writing this review.
HOWEVER, The piece de resistance was
attending the lecture of Michael Ammar. It was my first lecture of his and it was worth the wait. He
taught many classic effects with twists of his own to make them new and unique. I learned quite a
bit during the event. Meeting and talking with him afterwards was a real treat as well. If you still
have a chance to attend Michael's Lecture I highly recommend it.
Thanks to Penguin Magic for
putting this event together.
