I noticed a few negative reviews on this item.

Let me say for the record, sometimes its not the prop or the illusion that is at fault. It's the "presenter."

This is a GREAT trick in the right hands. "Presentation" is everything. Remember that. If you are good at what you do, you can take a crappy illusion and turn it into something wonderful.

If you are a true entertainer down deep in your soul... you already know this.

This particular item is a neat little gem. If it's not what you expected, do what I would do in this situation. Start re-engineering the thing until it meets your expectations.
