When I saw the demos of this I had a good idea of the secret, and I was correct. If you know the
secret to the classic 'scotch and soda' coin illusion you now do with this as well. That's exactly
what it is. That being said, it's the very reason I purchased Johnny Wong's Super Chip & Coin. It's
a very easy means of accomplishing the illusion of a coin vanishing or changing, plus this version
has a couple of enhancements in its favor. The first is there's a magnetic action installed in the
prop and gimmick that securely and accurately snaps and locks the piece in place, with no accuracy
nor effort necessary on your part. The 2nd is, since the chip is larger in diameter to a normal
Kennedy half, the gimmick is equal in diameter to a normal Kennedy half (even has some of the ridged
edge apparent on top). This is a great thing because you can openly display it alongside normal
coins and it won't catch the audiences eye. It's thinner than a normal coin but that's easily
managed.
Because of the magnetic properties I wouldn't try many of the routines that's taught
on the dvd in the real world. It just looks too obvious and I'd be afraid the spectator(s) would
come up with a solution that would probably not be that far from the truth. Remember, if a spectator
convinces himself of a solution to the mystery, true or not, the illusion is ruined. But there are a
number of really great illusions that can be done with this precision set. The 'coins across' is my
personal favorite. The dvd is even hand autographed by Mr. Wong, which is a cool bonus. This may be
expensive but i'm very happy with it. It's just so different from the norm and precision made in
Johnny Wong fashion.
I was thinking about that the other day about the spectator convincing themselves. Well there is a host of other different factors that will lean them to thinking that way. There is their own confidence or lack there is, or if the don't have the best feelings towards you for what ever reason, or if you haven't established yourself as being magical or if they are the loudest one in the room.
