The method behind the effect is easy to learn and very workable. The "Other Brothers" explain the
core concept in a simple and concise manner (no BS and not a lot of chit chat). I like this because
they do not overcomplicate things.
In the DVD, they present 3 ways on how you could
routing the Hands Down concept.
1.) A Which Hand routine where the performer writes a
prediction in a post it note and folds it, hands it to the spectator, goes through the Which Hand
routine, and in the end the prediction matches which hand holds the post it note.
2.) A Which
Hand routine where the performer asks the audience to write anything in a post it note, goes through
the Which Hand routine, and in the end correctly guesses the hand that holds the post it note, and
divines what was written in the post it note. (this, in my opinion, is the strongest routine in the
DVD.Impromptu and direct) This routine is 2 magic effects in 1. One revelation stronger than the
previous one.
3.) A Which Hand routine where the performer asks the spectator to select a card,
asks the spectator to fold the card in quarters, goes to through the Which Hand routine, and in the
end correctly guesses which hand holds the folded card, and correctly names the chosen card.
(Although not impromptu, this also is a strong piece of effect with playing cards)
Also, in
the DVD, they explain how to do a basic center tear (not my preferred method), and also teach how to
force a card.
Will I use the "Hands Down" principle. Yes. I believe the principle works
best and works stronger when used with other effects. As a stand alone, I don't think it is strong
enough to wow the spectators that's why I believe that the 2nd routine in the DVD was the best that
they presented because it involves 2 effects in 1 routine. I would also suggest learning a better
Center Tear method other than the one presented in the DVD to further improve on the 2nd routine
that they shared.
This effect is simple, workable, practical, and priced right. I highly
recommend this!
