Let me tell you about my previous Egyptian decks first and then I will get into these beauties.
These are really something special.
I am obsessed with the mystery and symbology of
ancient Egypt and have been looking for a deck that truly resonates with my sensibilities. I bought
the Pharaoh limited edition and Scarab decks over the years and as much as I enjoyed them because of
the symbology and art I love, I was always disappointed by certain aspects of them. Mainly the back
design and colors of those decks feeling a bit washed out and frankly non Egyptian giving me a
disconnect between the faces and the backs.
This deck however is a true inspiration. The
back designs are not shown here for some reason but you can see them if you google the deck. Both
the Osiris and Anubis decks have a beautifully Egyptian style, highly detailed, sleek gold foil
design. Each and every back shines brilliantly and the foil does not effect it's handling. In fact,
this is one of the smoothest and most pleasurable decks I've had the opportunity to handle in 16
years of magic and cardistry. The court cards are beautifully detailed with a combination of
Egyptian gods and pharaohs. I love that they maintain a 2-D feel throughout. The pips on each card
are also very nice and the box is decked out from head to toe. The inside is not printed on but for
me this not an issue. The flap itself is beautiful and looks like an intricate necklace Cleopatra
herself would wear. The dark mysterious quality of blue here reminds me of the turquoise I was so
enthralled by when learning about ancient Egypt as a kid. The Anubis cards are black and gold with a
modified but similar back design that I love as well. Can't say I like one more than the other and
would recommend getting them both.
All in all a deck that personifies the mystery,
lavishness and beauty of ancient Egypt front to back like no other deck before it. Thank you Steve
Minty!
