...but I don't own the required common prop, which currently will set you back $25.00 plus shipping
from Penguin. It's a neat item that lots of folks seem to think is great, but that just never
appealed to me. If you have the gimmick and the skill to use it effectively, though, you probably
have the skills not to need the method described in, "Lucid." The description is accurate...it is
risky and bulky to carry around when there are better impromptu methods.
I do recommend,
"Vision," available at Penguin, which includes essentially the same gimmick in business card size
for business card peeks if you want to go this route. The characteristics of business cards
vs.playing cards better lend themselves to this peek, and several tips to customize/camouflage the
(smaller) gimmick are included.
One caveat re: Vision: Penguin carries the U.S. version.
There is a British/EU version also, since they use a different standard size for their business
cards. Be sure to get the right version to work with your size of business cards.
I agree that on its own the peek would be seriously impractical and silly, but I have made sure to include the complete handling which allows you to smoothly transition into a more well-known routine without requiring the usual deck switch immediately after the divination. I understand where you are coming from, but I have found that the purchase needed in order to perform this peek/secondary routine pays for itself rather quickly when worked for real people. Thank you for providing me with your honest thoughts, and I value them immensely.
Cheers,
Eric Stevens
