I rated this one star indicating it's lack of interest to me. But if I was an illusionist I would
give it a 5. The Canopic Jars were a nice authentic touch and expertly reproduced. And I am an
Egyptologist. So kudos to Dan but he's playing here to a very limited audience.
Illusion is not always affordable to everybody. If you were a Illusionist you would give it 5 stars, so, this is a great product.
Giving 2 stars, you put away people that would be interested in buy this.
The ad is clear that this is a Illusions product. So, if you don´t like this, why buy it ? And, if you buy it and consider it a 5 star product, why give it a 2 stars ? Only because you don´t do illusions ?
Please, help other magicians to find great products ! And, if you consider this a 5 star product, even that you don´t do illusions, give it a 5 stars :) !!!
Best regards,
Jack
I hope you'll understand, I'm constrained by the actual contents of the Tarbell Course in Magic. I'm not choosing these lessons, or the tricks within them, on a whim. I'm literally performing and teaching Every Trick in the Book. Lesson 70 contains ONE illusion. I've done everything I can to re-design it to make it possible for a skilled, dedicated, and slightly crazy person (i.e. "illusionist") to build their own. I know it's possible... I built it... by myself... in my basement.
Then, I went far beyond the contents of the book, by providing alternate presentations and more versatility in the design. I realize this lesson is not the kind of magic you'll put in your pocket and perform tomorrow, but (for this project) I don't decide what to teach... only how to teach it. Regardless whether you'll immediately use the knowledge in this lesson, I doubt it could have been presented any better. I worked very hard for that one star.
Dan, I know I probably will never be an illusionist, heck my wife already told me "you're not gonna build that!" back in lesson 33. But I think both this and 33 are great. I love the art and crafts aspects of magicianing and I always find ideas in these lessons.
Thanks!
Dan's level of commitment is superhuman. I don't own this product yet, but I can tell by the ad that it is worth far more than 1 star. As a filmmaker, the prop construction part of the lesson is worth the price of admission for me.
That one star rating does not reflect badly on Dan, nor this product.
why would some one rate this very low stars like previous purchasers of the lecture if their not into illusions? if you bought it as a single purchase you should know better since the tittle is illusions and if your somehow into the magic field you know illusions requires construction of apparatus ,now if you gave it low stars for the same reasons ,well again you should know better its part of the course in tarbell like it or not and the lecture had to be given if course is based as it is correctly given and teached, this part was not going to be skippedjust because someone is not into illusions or thinks building effects its complicated
Dear Mr Egyptologist,
It seems you didn’t quite understand the concept of ratings. You admit that you would give it 5 stars if you were an illusionist and yet you gave it only 1 because you’re not into it yourself. That is a bizarre turn of logic.
