When I bought this I was scared of the bad reviews. But boy...this was just the reel I was looking
for. It is really strong, the lock is perfect because I can make an effect at the END of my act, and
not necesarilly in the beginning (In my case, it had to be at the end).
Just a few points.
It can make a loud sound because of one of the parts clashing, but with some tape and foam I managed
to overcome it. It is also a little bit uncomfortable to set on the jacket, beacuse the reel is a
big square and the hook is a bit difficult to set.
Nevertheless I am very satisfied,
please don't stop making these, and I'm buying another one right now.
Thanks for the review. This is helpful. I must say with regard to this item that I think it's strange that one of the features advertised above is that the reel is "Silent" , but then your review points out: "it can make a loud sound because of one of the parts clashing". You note that it's fixable by adding some tape and foam , but I wonder if all of them are like this (make a loud noise) and must be modified by the user , or if the one you received was defective in some way ? Would someone from Penguin Magic like to respond to this ? Is it actually "Silent" or only silent if the user makes their own modifications to it after they receive the reel ?
Im replying a bit late. I don't know why the designers decided that the stopper (The thuing attached to the thread in order for it not to be sucked by the reel) had to be metal. The metal thing makes a very loud noise when it clashes with the plastic container of the reel, but at least it wont break easily.
I don't think it is deffective, its just a design choice. Could they give you an already silented one? Yes, but Im not mad at such a good price. There are many things that could be improved of the reel? Yes, but the core of the reel (Which I think is the most important part) is there: Strength, can be used any time, not just the beginning.
Considering the scarcity of items like this (Like the Henry Evans reel which is crap) I maintain the 5 stars. I was worried they wouldn't make more, please keep doing them
