I think this could work if you use an alphabet written down on something, which you and the spectator see, to make things clearer. Otherwise​, if you perform it propless, I have found the instructions are hard for the spectator to follow, often jumbling up letters in their head. Therefore, it is not a reliable trick. I don't want to risk performing the first bit of scripting that is crucial to the trick working either, because I fear it is too obvious.
