Wonderful effect but the instruction is incomplete. The video attempted to have a novice learn the
effect alongside the instructor. This was not shot well and the student did not demonstrate mastery
of the effect at all.
Only through ample dexterity and years of rubber band magic have I
gotten the effect to work off and on. The key points to make the effect work were left out in the
instruction. Plus, it requires the better bands provided by Joe Rindfleisch to work.
Don't really do a lot of rubber band magic, and with small hands, Joe's are too big for me. Glad to know this is not close to the jumping rubber band in all of our magic books. Save my money.
I think the instruction is enough, it's like any sleight of hand magic, you have to notice if your finger and the rubber band position is the same as instructed. It's pretty crucial to get the best result. Sometimes with slow motion or stop the video to check the position is necessary. And it needs practice.
About the kind of rubber band, most rubber bands are good enough to do BJ2. BJ3 & BJ4 need suitable ones. But it's just like some card magic or coin magic, you need to find the best item to get the best performance.
BJ4 is definitely not like the classic jumping rubber band effect, 'cuz it's much more visual that normal people will be amazed even they ever learned the classic jumping rubber band.
The novice is Nicholas Lawrence. The popular creator of many effects.
