I purchased this as a replacement to an old Thread Boss I had. I was VERY disappointed to see how obvious the thread now is. Not only is it thicker, but it is shiny, too, so glints of light reflect off the thread even in the best of lighting situations.

The device is still well made. Just be alert to the not-so-invisible thread that comes with it.

We manufacture three different kinds of Thread Boss Reels, one has Kevlar that is thicker thread but does well in fluorescent or dim lighting. But we also make one with wooly nylon and spectra thread both. It sounds to me like you got a Kevlar Boss Reel. I will let Penguin know to separate these options so people can select what they need.
