I like Paul Voodini's work and I consider myself a student of seance magic. Paul made a name with
his psychological approaches, moving away from the "magical" work, working more purely with the
perception of the sitters or spectators. The disadvantage of this is, that he sometimes leaves the
area of mystery work and enters the area of "esoteric self help" style cold reading stuff.
I
instantly wanted to read this e-book because I expected it to be about single seance effects that
Paul would describe in detail and then explain his take on them. But this happens to be only a
summary of the history of spiritualism, a history you can read about in hundreds of physical (often
contemporary) books that are not for magicians (which means they are cheaper). There is really no
thing that I did not have read about anywhere else To buy this short E-BOOK for 40$ is not a good
deal and I am very disappointed.
If you are interested in this area of magic/mentalism I
recommend to start with the great "Spirit Theater" by Eugene Burger and then the magazine collection
"Seance", both classics.
