i can tell this guy doesn't work for anyone, but convention crowds. impractical to buy a deck of
gaffs and only be able to use 2 cards out of the 52, plus lapping and plus having spectators being
able to recall not one but four cards. another wasted download. not recommended you purchase unless
you have some people that come over to your house and waant to see your latest trick while they
gather around the fireplace.
Let me give you some tips so you can give fair and clear reviews in the future:
1."impractical to buy a deck of gaffs and only be able to use 2 cards out of the 52.". If by this you mean you have to buy a deck of gaffs only to use 2 out of the 52, that doens't make it impractical, it makes it a bit more expensive. It's a small investment to make to be able to do this effect, you can still use the other 50 cards for other effects. I understand the frustration of having to buy more stuff, as magic dealers don't usually tell people that either "assembly required" or "extra purchases are necessary", but calling a deck of usable gaffs "impractical" is a bit misleading in a review.
2."...plus lapping...", lapping IS a practical technique for cleaning up when sitting down, yet it is not needed for the effect to work, you can remove it from the routine if necessary and/or find an alternative(which if you have even moderate experience wont be hard). Now if the creator didn't give an alternative handling for stand-up/walkaround, that's a fair critique to make, but it wasn't the one you where making. Also when buying magic always pay attention to the performance shown in the demo/trailer; in this case he was sitting, so there really wasn't, and shouldn't be, any assumption that he was going to teach anything more that what he showed in the demo. I understand that you might have wanted to use this routine somewhere else, but in the future pay very close attention to what you are buying (In this case it was easy to see that it was table magic, due to the full performance). You can't call magic impractical just because you can't perform it in the environment you want. For performers who sit down, this routine IS practical. So a better thing to put in a review would be "this routine is intended sitting down, and might be impractical for stand up/walkaround."
3."...plus having spectators being able to recall not one but four cards." If by this you mean "ONE spectator remembering FOUR cards", that is not how the routine is intended. It's meant to have FOUR spectators remember ONE card each (Their card). You said spectators (plural), and if that is what you meant, then what's the problem? you clearly saw you where buying a revelation/location of FOUR cards. It's reasonable to have ONE spectator remember ONE card (It's about 90% of the plots in card magic)
In closing, don't call a perfectly good routine "impractical" just because you didn't like it (You'r welcome to state you didn't like it, as you are entitled to you opinion. But "impractical" goes from opinion to a fact, which it isn't). So before reviewing something negatively, consider what incorrect assumptions you had on the product, and if they where your fault or not... in this case they where. But I guess you live and learn.
""impractical" goes from opinion to a fact"
Uh, no? His opinion is that it's impractical... The fact that you deduced everything he meant in his review means his review was more than clear on why he doesn't like it. It's his review, of his opinion...
