Dan Harlan's Magic of the Mind lecture in the Tarbell series contains effects that are all classics,
not just in Tarbell but also in Corinda's 13 Steps. As always, Dan takes the basic methods and
improves upon them, adding his own spin to make them better. My only quibble might be with his
version of the memory system. To me, doing a s******** o** move defeats the purpose of the routine,
which isn't that difficult to begin with if you practice. But to each his own. Of the Tarbell
mentalism lectures, this one is just about at the top of the heap because you will see something
that you will like and use. I really like Dan's version of Bank Nite, for example, and do it with a
slightly different method from Tarbell. But I think that I'm going to add Dan's excellent nuances.
For me, that was worth the price of the download itself.

All the presentations in this lecture are excellent.
The movements of the "knight" in the Chess
presentation are fantastic, although it is not really a magic trick and can be only appreciated by
chess players.
The trick of memorizing the 20 words is an old classic in mental classic.
I
have presented this trick using words actually given by the present audience. It can be performed
very easily.
I like the idea of writing the words in flash cards and read by a spectator.
The problem with using words from previous presentations is that you need a large audience since
20 people will not hear their word in the presentation, plus you need to make substitutions. Using
the actual words is more effective since members of the audience can recognize their words. It is
very easy to make the associations right in front of the audience.

Dan is such a creative genius. I can't stop marveling on all his takes on effects and how he can
build just about anything. He is the MacGyver of magic. There so many cool ideas inside that I can't
pick one.
However, his take on the Knight's Tour is fantastic plus he could easily make and
market that idea.
On top of that, I loved his take on the Memory Demonstration. I actually
do memory acts, but I loved how he came up with a way of giving you extra time to memorize yet it
will look like you are doing it instantly.
Amazing stuff!!

6 effects, one using an old card cheat method but one that can easily fool modern audiences and card
magicians. A "Devil's Deck" that blew me away when I watched it. An actual foolproof Bank Night,
and more. Plus the effects are modernized from the book and you get Dan's insight as to why the
changes were made and how to better sell the effects. Just his insight alone was worth more than
what I paid for this one.

Love all videos in the series
Good video. Harlan is the best ( both Dan and Tarbell).
Some very interesting procedures and methods on the border between magic and the possible.
