This lesson starts off with a great routine that anyone could add to their set. There's also a
routine with a lamp cord that shows off a lot of ideas, but the routine itself needs some
refinement.
Some of the methods in this lesson are so old that they feel new again. I bet
that many magicians would be fooled by them.

I've been secretly hoping this day would never come. I've been doing the HH Rope Release from Hand
ever since I purchased my set of Tarbell.
This is an amazing rope penetration and can play
very big, by also tying the rope at the base of your hand, so you can say, "the rope has has been
wrapped, tied, wrapped again and tied once more."
Then slip a scarf under the rope and tie
the ends ... and let your participant hold the ends of the scarf.
And then work your
magic. Such a great trick, I'm sorry to see it get a wide release on these videos - but once you
learn it you'll have a performance piece you'll do forever. It's in my pocket right now.

Harlan's explanation of Henry Holova's release was very helpful and his additional touches were an
improvement over what is found in the Encyclopedia of Rope Tricks and Tarbell.
This was worth
the price of the download to me.
FYI - Patrick Page used the technique of the dropped
pieces of rope in his rope magic video.

5 Separate effects and 5 different methods for one other effect. Rope effects that can be done
closeup or stage and generally pack small. The effects are foolers but ones that are easily
followed by the spectators. A lot of magic today, mostly cards, can confuse the audience to the
point where the magician is constantly having to explain what just happened. Rope magic is obvious,
I cut it and now it is restored, I wrapped it around and possibly even tied it but now it penetrates
right through. A great change of pace for the paste board magic so prevalent today.

Dan is an excellent magic teacher and Tarbell is a great magic course. I recommend this to anyone
that wants to learn magic. These monthly magic lessons are a great way to learn.

These are great effects! Can't wait to start practicing them. I especially like the one that
incorporates the dollar bill with the torn corner. It's powerful!
Dan does a wonderful job
instructing in detail. I've purchased the full course and am eager for a new lesson each week.
Love all videos in this series
Good video. Dan is a great teacher.
Dan's usual genius at work. His details to the skills in making stuff is amazing. He always teaches
some inside stuff on how to build your own items.
I also learned a lot here about how to
make your own rope gimmicks.
And there is a lot of variety in the way the ropes are cut and
the presentations.
