Excellent video with good effects, live performances of great quality and very clear and thorough explanations.
The techniques employed are quite basic and will be used by most people, even beginners in the art of mentalism. But the effect produced on the audience may not be the same as the one generated by Docc Hilford. The guy is a master performer and he has this ability of getting the most from a little thing and captivating an audience.
The readings he delivers during the performance of "Volition" are just excellent (and they are pure cold readings, as Docc has nothing to work with - no secret information). This, in my opinion, is what makes this effect so fantastic to look at. Witnessing Docc's virtuosity at delivering readings is always a pleasure.
Unfortunately, he does not cover that part in the explanation of the effect. He simply covers the technique used to ensure that every participant chooses his/her own envelope. Obviously, readings are much more experience-based than move-based, and it is hard to explain "experience" on a video. This is why we will not hold a grudge against Docc, lol...
All in all, a strong recommendation for this rendition of classic effects that have been clerverly modernized.

Docc is a master of entertainment. He is wayyy more than a mentalist. Seeing him performing is a master class. Having said that... He teaches 5 effects that are updated Annemann ideas with the Docc's touch. I really like this video and the ideas are great. Veredict: Recomended

The opener alone is worth the price of admission. I like when someone as smart and a capable as Docc is updates the classics. Some of the old texts contain gems but have had their wear and tear due to the passage of time. Docc proves that with a little updating this classic material is stronger than ever. Docc is a brilliant mind, and should be paid attention to very closely. A+

It becomes clear that Docc spends more time thinking about which thumb writer best suits him than many of us do on our entire act.

You might be tempted to skip around and just watch the performances. DON'T. The devil's in the details and Docc is truly a crafty fiend. Even if you think you know how an effect is done, take the time to listen to the explanation.

Learning why Docc makes the choices he does is as valuable as the material itself. I know embarrassingly little about Annemann, this was a treat.

We are standing on the shoulders of giants ... Docc made one of those giants very human and did a good job in "translating" some of Annemans original ideas for today's application. You can enjoy the ride and (of course) some jokes and maybe even (as me) return to the original sources an re-connnect with them.
At first it felt a bit on the pricy side but no regrets. If you are getting serious about mind reading and mind blowing than get this ... and if you are not so serious but instead like Docc's stiyle adn jokes then this is a no brainer anyway.

You will not find routines one after another, rapid fire, in this lecture-style video. Instead, Annemann's age old (and still brilliant) thinking is UPDATED, remastered, and redefined for a new generation of mentalist. After all, how many folks carry pocket squares into the sitting room these days? What's more, you get to explore the mind of this legend from the past, expertly guided by one of the most brilliant living legends of our day, Docc himself! This is a master's take on the masterful.

I love Annemann’s work, Docc does a great job of making these classics, modern. Great explanations and I love the live demonstration with an audience Really enjoyed the download.

Docc does a beautiful job bringing some very powerful effects out of the golden age of mentalism into the modern era.
Well thought out, streamlined routines explained simply and clearly with Docc's brand of casual humor sprinkled on top. I've seen some of these effects performed and explained before by other artists, but some of the subtleties presented here breathe new life into some previously stale pieces.

Alright, well Anneman isn't NEW, but I feel there's nothing here that you can't find in dozens of other places.

It did encourage me to invest in a nail writer, though.
