First things first, it takes courage to market your first effect, opening yourself up to the
critique and criticism of the magic community. For that I commend Iain Bailey, and I hope he
continues inventing and marketing. If Penguin allowed decimal ratings, I'd have given this a 3.5. I
bumped it up to a 4 because I like Iain's style and think he's an excellent teacher.
This
is probably the best coffee shop routine I've seen, though it's limited because performing with a
cup of coffee would seem out of place just about anywhere except a coffee shop. (Albeit I bought
this for the high school Sunday School I teach, where it does fit in because everybody has a cup of
coffee or cocoa.)
It lost a star because "the move" was done off camera. While this
frustrates me as a consumer, I can understand why, and this should not be read to mean that the move
would be flashed in a real-world application. There's a clever deception that provides a boatload of
misdirection at the crucial time.
I also wanted to address the claim that the gimmick
takes 20 seconds to construct. While that's true for the main gimmick, the secondary gimmick takes
more effort and costs a few bucks. (Technically, you could do the effect with just the main gimmick.
But the secondary gimmick adds an additional layer of cover and helps sell the miracle.)
Finally, kudos should be given for the twist that keeps the audience from thinking a step ahead
of the magician, detracting from the "miracle." While even the most unseasoned laymen knows where a
card trick is going when the magician pulls a citrus fruit out of his pocket, nobody will see this
ending coming. Good work Iain, and I'm looking forward to your next release.

Works every time. Would be amazing if gimmicks were provided as I'm a lazy as*hole but the
explanations were clear on the crafting process.

Anyone who works a coffee shop or a restaurant that uses cardboard to go cups should have this trick
in their arsenal. It is fun to perform. I make up 12 gimmicks at a time. They are easy to make, I
use a disposable scalpel to cut them out but any sharp edge like a model knife will work. Takes
about 30 seconds to make one gimmick. I like this trick a lot.

If the video/ live performance would had been recorded or shown from the guest perspective I’m
certain I would not have download this. Will not be performing this and feel like I could have just
shredded my money and gotten more out of it. Going forward I’ll be rewatching a couple of times
before purchasing instant downloads.
I’ve always been pleased with Penguin Magic. This time Not
so much.

Explained beautifully and a brilliant utility with so many applications... I love being impromptu
and whatever preparation here is necessary is either one time or so minimal its COMPLETELY worth it!
Well done, and thank you!

The method is simple but at the same time comes incorporated with well timed and natural
misdirection to carry out any dirty work. In terms of setup; there is a little 'arts and crafts' if
you can even call it that. As long as you have access to sharpies and polystyrene cups then you're
good to go and you can prepare a ton of gimmicks in advance for multiple performances. The ad copy
is fairly accurate; your drink does start and end on the table (but it may have to be lifted at some
point, but don't fear there is good reason to do so and the spectators will be none the wiser). Iain
Bailey is a great and funny teacher, being from the UK too I enjoy the sarcasm :) I would also
recommend his 'signature trick' on his website which is an add on to 'credit card fraud' - it's
great! Looking forward to more releases from Iain!

So, easy and great deception. I wish I had thought of it on my own. Gets a great rise from the
crowed.

Good fun trick, it's all in your presentation really. Super easy to make the gimmick (yes you need
to make something but it will take you about 30 seconds) There are some other "things" you can do or
make if you want which are not necessary to make the trick work just might throw off people who try
to analyze or backtrack but if you present well you can get by without even worrying about it
honestly in my opinion. I recommend this trick.
