"Nathan is sharing strong solid routines that are of use to any magician, but especially those that wish to perform stand up. There is great thinking here worthy of your time” -Jon Armstrong

"It's rare to find a full-time professional magician willing to share inner workings from their working act. Nathan Coe Marsh does it beautifully. The material is strong and nicely crafted. Everything is meticulously researched and smart. Nathan is a natural teacher, he explains every detail in an easy going, easy to follow fashion. This is strong workable material, perfectly suited for stage or parlor.” -Jeff Evason, The Evasons

"Nathan is an experienced professional who performs real-world magic for real-world audiences. I'm excited to learn he'll be tipping some of the routines that earned him a standing-ovation at the end of a recent headline spot at the Improv I witnessed." -Steve Bedwell

"Nathan's lecture contains hard-hitting, real world material and in-depth thinking that will make your magic better. Highly recommended!" -Michael Kaminskas

"I've been performing full time since I was 16, I'm 44 now. Almost all of that time has been as a working stage act, so I think I have some perspective here. Nathan Coe Marsh is putting out a Penguin Live Act! I've seen the material in this act. WOW!  It is fantastically well thought out material, practical, and visually interesting. Moreover it is really well footnoted and clearly explained. He's got a mentalism piece that really plays big and is visually interesting, and a killer opener with some really nice touches. You will use this stuff.
Bonus: it is not material everyone else is doing. Beauty of this is, he's giving you a way of thinking that you can apply to all of your work, tools to use to build on for future routines. I think that's pretty invaluable." -Matt DiSero

"Nathan's magic is so strong because he puts so much work into every effect. The magic he teaches in his lectures is practical, hard-hitting and just plain fun to do! I'm a big fan of him and his work (and YOU will be, too)." -Geoff Williams

"Nathan Coe Marsh is an entertaining, professional magician whose magic is always first class. At last, I am going to learn where that shot glass came from!" -Bob Swadling

“Bravo! ..a breath of fresh air!” -Joanie Spina, MAGIC Magazine

"I review a lot of magic content every year. What Nathan is sharing with the community is what he really uses for his audiences when it counts. If you are serious about performing magic in the real world, for real people, you will want to take a close look at Nathan's work. This would be a steal at twice the price." -Anton James, The Official Magician of Salem, Massachusetts

What will he teach?

A Spirited Opener- The startling visible vanish of a silk followed immediately by the production of a full shotglass. This is a 1-2 punch that, in under 90 seconds, grabs the complete focus of an audience while also setting the atmosphere of fun for everything that follows.

The Chop Cup- Nathan's stand-up chop cup routine that incorporates a Michael Kaminskas touch (with permission) in a new way to dramatically increase the impact of the final loads.

Bare-Handed- Any card called for is caught out of mid-air. The spectacle of a card sword without the cost, and Nathan's new technique for controlling a named card from a memorized deck has many applications for both close-up and stand up (for non-memdeck users, this revelation is also powerful with a chosen card).

Balloons- Stage-filling, astonishing, comedy mentalism that packs small and involves no on-stage volunteers.

The Thumb Tie- Nathan's presentation of Jay Marshall's "Jaspernese Thumbtie" is an object lesson in how to milk the comic potential of your props and generate "playtime."

Test Conditions Signed Bill in Orange- The result of 15 years of experimentation and hundreds of live shows. This is Nathan’s baby that came from the relentless pursuit of the most impossible version of the classic plot. The orange is in in full view, the signed bill is in full view. The bill vanishes. The orange is shown whole on every side. The signed bill truly is inside the orange. This brings down the house. Every. Single. Time.

Egg and Silk- A poignant presentation of Bev Bergeron's classic handling of the Egg and Silk turns a "sucker trick" into a moment of emotional connection.

I think this format works really well when it’s presenting a true working act and not just a bunch of lecture items thrown together to create something to sell. Here we get a true working act, from someone who has done it 1,000’s of times. When ever a pro is taking about the real act we should all listen closely. This is one of those cases for sure with real gems of wisdom throughout the presentation.

Highlights for me are the opener which is strong and may make me past my fear of pulls, the Bill in Orange and the Chop Cup, but all of it is worth watching to really get great advice from a pro.

If you don't his name, read his reviews appeared on Genii Magazine. You can feel his great insight on magic. The most important fact is he is a seasoned professional who makes a living with magic.

Whenever I study materials from first-rate, real professionals, I always sit up straight and take notice of their important message that comes from their life-long, real-life experience. This is the lecture I did so.
You can learn his detailed "modus operandi" from setup to how to build up a solid 30 minutes routine.

Highlights for me are his setup for the sound system, really deceptive "Bill in Orange" and his way to building a routine for late Jay Marshall's masterpiece "Jaspernese Thumb Tie".

So many practical and valuable information for anyone wanting to elevate the level of their performance jam packed in 2 hours. I believe every magician can learn something new from his lecture.

My only complaint is this - if possible, I want to listen to Nathan and Harlan conversation MUCH more. I believe I can enjoy their conversation for 2 more hours.

I believe this is one of the best Penguin live. Well done, Nathan!
Highly recommended.

EXCELLENT Lecture Report this review

Speaking as a +5 decades pro, there was a lot of good, super commercial and workable material in this lecture. The insights and thought process behind Nathans work is quite evident. While some may gloss over the tricks (which were really good) the real education is the psychology of process, the steps used to build a solid act.He even teaches the packing process to ensure everything goes smoothly.

My market is 99% corporate world-wide and it is obvious that this material would kill in that arena as well as the cruise market. Having said that much of the material could be used in ANY situation from fair, festival, banquet, hospitality and even birthdays.

It is the height of pack small and get a ton of visual impact. VERY smooth presentation. The flow is non-stop and highly watchable. The likeability and humor factor is what will keep his gigs coming in! Highly recommended.

I've never heard of Nathan before and bought this soley on the basis of that he was performing the Jaspernese Thumb Tie.
Though I wished he and Dan went into more details generally on the effects there was enough work shared here to make it more than worth it for... particularly-- in addition the the thumb tie tips, some handling of the Bill to Orange that I had not seen anywhere before.

This is a great show with great detailed explanations in the lecture portion. There are some great “real world” ideas and routines in place here that I’m sure many could benefit from. I particularly like the “No Sword Card Stab” and have added it to my repertoire and just used it in a show for 800 people and it was a huge hit.... also made a huge mess, but the sacrifices we make.

I loved everything he did and every thing he said. Fantastic thinking behind all of his effects. Loved, loved, loved his balloon mentalism effect. I've always been a sucker for thumb ties and his was one of the best I've seen So much thinking here that you'll take away with you and improve any effect or act.

Nathan is a wonderful performer who delivers a fantastic experience for his audience. He really dives in and explains the way he structured the act as well as made things more practical for himself without sacrificing the effect.

This is well worth the price of admission!
