I was in the audience when Scott made the Penguin video for the Bias Pad, and I finally bought one.
The quality of this is HORRIBLE. Why?
The part of the pad/device that disguises
the gimmick, is drastically different from the color it needs to be to appear legit/normal. Because
of this, it screams gimmick and it welcomes further inspection and that will NOT go well for you.
It only takes one person to notice this (and remember you're tossing this out or handing it to
multiple audience members). I understand audience management, but when you pay this much, and if the
manufacturer cared, they could have easily made this bullet proof. Because of the blatant
mismatched colors, if someone touches any 3 of the 4 sides of the gimmick part, you are 100% busted.
Due to the material it is made of, it is virtually impossible to change the color yourself.
When you watch the instructional video and tips however, the colors on Scott's pad match really
well...but not the one I received.
Importantly, with a minimal effort, the creator could
have also very easily made the gimmick (aside from the horrendous color match) appear less
suspicious. I don't want to reveal the secret, so as an example, I'll make the following
analogy...pretend that the item being discussed was instead a gimmicked quarter that you are
supposed to HAND OUT to MULTIPLE spectators, and instead of supplying you with a gimmicked coin that
had a ridged/reeded/grooved edge, out of sheer laziness, the manufacturer gave you a gimmicked
quarter that had perfectly smooth edges so that the quarter immediately appeared fake to spectators.
The same concept is going on here with the Bias Pad, and when you combine this with the horrendous
color match, it's so disappointing.
For very little effort on the manufacturer's part, his
could have been awesome and I so wanted to use/love the Bias Pad. For this much money it should
have been an amazingly well made utility. I say this as a fan...I love Scott and have multiple of
his Penguin Live lectures that are fantastic, the Bias Pad instructional video is well done, and the
ideas he shares are great, so I expected theBias Pad itself to be well designed/made.

This is always been one of my favorite routines, but I was never satisfied with the methods used To
accomplish it, until now. This is one of the greatest mentalist utilities one could ask for.
