First, I admit I'm not a fan of the Oil and Water premise. There was always too much counting and
not enough motivation for the effect, for me.
David Regal's version WHOA! Get ready! The
backs are involved, too!
Four BLUE backed BLACK cards cleanly interlace with four RED
backed RED cards and SEPARATE. Twice.
Squeaky clean. It'll make you and your spectators
feel good all over!
The kicker ending has the separated backs instantly REMIX their colors
in the spectator's hands.
Highly recommended! Simple clean, beautiful!

You may have already learned one of many Oil & Water routines or are already performing one but this
one is killer - ‘Daddy' of the all. This is a two phased routine like something you have never seen
before. No gimmicks, no extra cards to fumble with, relatively little sleight of hand, utilizes a
very powerful routine involving not just the fronts of the cards but the backs too. Want to use a
borrowed cards … no problem, go ahead. This is really huge with a killer ending for your spectators.
David is really brilliant and a great teacher too. The premise he uses in his routine and
patter is layered to really sell and amaze your spectators. The small sleight that he employs is
probably something you ready know if you have worked with cards but for anyone relatively new to
cards, not only will this be easy for you to learn, but it will be an invaluable tool for you to
incorporate into other cards effects in the future. I really like the fact that the spectator gets
involved and gets to touch the cards in the process of this effect.
This is really a sweet
trick to own, learn and perform. Spend a little time learning this one and you will want to add it
to your performing repertoire as soon as you can. You can’t go wrong with a David Regal creation,
you won’t be sorry.

There may be nothing new in magic but there are definitely improvements. David spends time giving
the history of oil and water effects in general and the two tricks leading up to this.
We
have a multi phase oil and water effect where not only are the faces shown to separate but also the
backs. You use only 8 cards, if you can borrow 2 different colored decks you can openly choose 4
from each and go into the effect. No gimmicks needed.
Sleight-wise it’s almost all done
with the obvious sleight that you should know, but it is briefly taught. A few minor “moves,” really
more like adjustments, are needed but are done as part of other open moves so nothing is out of
wack. If you didn’t see it in the trailer your spectators won’t either.
If you do Oil and
Water you need this. If you do anything with cards and don’t do O&W you need this even more.
You will have fun with this and leave your spectators both clueless and entertained. Of course
you can never go wrong with David Regal.

I am not much of a fan of Oil and Water. This version is just really, really good. The idea of
using both the faces and the backs of the cards is inspired. The crediting is beyond great and the
effect will leave spectators stunned. It will take some practice (but most good tricks do) and it
is worth it. Regal has a mind for coming up with great tricks and this is one of them. Well worth
the money to a worker,

David Regal - in the 17 minute how-to video - spends a fair amount of time going over the history of
Oil & Water, the variations, etc. It's nice touch, and works well as a connect-the-dots on how this
one came to be eventually.
What Regal delivers is a routine that can be done with any two
decks (of different colors/backs, naturally) with really no prep involved. The three phases of this
effect build off one another, with the final change seemingly occurring in the spectator's hand.
This is something that just about anyone familiar with basic card handling should be able
to manage with some practice, and none of the moves are particularly difficult (and should already
be known to most of you).
Oil & Water is a classic for a reason, but David Regal tweaks
this staple into something larger and ultimately much more engaging.
A winner....

Oil and water is one of those card tricks that I never cared for. I don't know why, but for some
reason, most of the performances I see fall flat. Perfectly Oiled is not like the others. I love the
fact that the black cards and red cards have different colored backs, making it seem fairer and
easier to follow. The moves are quite simple and David does an excellent job teaching this effect.

David Regal’s “Perfectly Oiled” is a great effect that accomplishes some eye watering
transformations and uses no gimmicks. Also he’s added a premise to the effect that give the audience
a reason to want to see more.
His methods do involve some sleight of hand, but it’s all really
basic moves. What really nice is the way he performs the moves and the timing he uses makes it so
there appear to be no moves used. N9 fancy counts or mixing.
If you like what you see in
the video, you’ll love Perfectly Oiled.
Highly Recommneded!

I always find that Regal’s effects are powerful without crazy knuckle buster moves. Are there some
moves in this? Yeah but nothing that is off the wall. It’s just a really good card routine.

David has done it again. He put a mountain of thought into a classic and came up with a way to make
it better and even more unbelievable. I though I knew what he was doing on video and tried it, but I
didn't come very close. After watching his detailed tutorial I feel like I've met him in person and
took a master class in nuanced card manipulation.
Thank you David!

Nicely thought out routine. Oil & Water has always been a favorite. Now it has even more impact on
laymen due to both fronts and backs being involved. It also tickled me that it gets progressively
simpler in handling as the routine progresses.
