"Koran created the classic effect but Richard’s touches make this a must have for stage mentalists. Simple and straight forward the way it should be done!" - Michael Kaminskas

"The method is so clean, natural, and sneaky I am blown away by its simplicity. Worth the price of admission by itself. I love the secret method so much that I will use itto strengthen other routines I have developed. Truly a blockbuster finish to any routine." - Chef Anton

Headline Countdown is so strong that when Al Koran originally performed it on the Ed Sulivan Show, Ed named him the world’s greatest mind reader. This knock out prediction will leave your audiences stunned.

Here’s what happens:

The performer hands an audience member a sealed envelope before the trick even begins. A single sheet of newspaper is introduced and torn into small pieces which are then collected into a pile. The audience member is invited to name a number between one and however many pieces are in the pile, and then the pieces are counted down to the named number. The piece at the number is given to the audience member for examination. The performer asks what stands out on the piece of newspaper, and of course, it matches the written prediction in the envelope perfectly. The best part is that everything is examinable.

The method behind this is diabolical. There are no switches or secret flaps in the envelope. It is genuinely in the possession of the spectator from the very beginning of the trick. There are no arts and crafts or need to assemble complicated gimmicks to achieve this effect. Headline Countdown is a show-stopping prediction that is as easy to perform as is it astonishing. With only a sheet of newspaper and an envelope, you’ll be predicting the headlines in no time.

As per usual, Richard Osterling is an amazing teacher. The trick is quite astute, fairly easy, and it'll puzzle a lot of people. Plus, the fact there are no gimmicks to build (like in other newspaper prediction kits) makes this trick even simpler. Really nice.

This is so cool, however you will need to do some simple math and practice to do it with confidence. The price is very fair all most a gift 🎁.

Another amazing effect from Al Koran. If you want something that can amaze your audience and still focus on presentation, this is it. The effect is straight forward and you get what you see in the advertisement. There is SOME tiny management involved - a bit daunting at first but Mr. Osterlind goes into detail about it and at the end, covers it once more.

There is some memorization and math involved, but not too intimidating.
It can be completely impromptu with any newspaper!

Good price for the magic.

It’s pretty much what I thought it was, but I hadn’t worked out exactly how. But having a guess at the method doesn’t take anything away from this. This concept could be built into a really, really grand effect by combining it with a handful of other methods. To get your juices flowing: think about a traditional (precognition) headline prediction plus giving a spectator the “choice” of which page in the newspaper.

Only downside here is that it might not be as easy as it once was to pick up a hard copy of the local newspaper in every city. For example, my town’s paper only comes out in print two days a week. This will require a little research and planning if you’re performing shows in various towns. Worth it though, I’d say.
