I saw Martin Lewis perform this routine many years ago at the Columbus Magi-Fest and it has been
stuck in my memory ever since. I was looking for a fun stand-up card routine and am delighted that I
chose the Comedy Comeback Card.
What is good about it is that it is entertaining and visual
and when the spectators think they might have an idea of how it is done there is a twist that
totally puts them off the method. The plot is similar to the 6 Card Repeat using "I saw a magician
perform a card trick once and thought it was so great I had to learn how to do it ..." This is a
visual stand-up trick with cards that is not a "pick a card" trick, but is similar to a face-up
ambitious card except the cards are held in a wine glass the entire time.
You receive a
pack of cards, gimmicks, a fairly nice cloth you can perform with and a cheap plastic wine glass to
help you learn the routine. I would recommend finding a real wine glass with a sturdy stem and bowl
large enough to hold a deck of cards to perform with. There is a link to an online video with Martin
Lewis teaching the routine. It does not take long to learn and it plays very well. The only down
side is that no one should be behind you, but the angles can be kept pretty wide. There is a mild
clean-up at the end by putting the cards away in the case.
In short, a great routine at a
great price that packs small and plays big. I perform mostly stand-up magic and use a variety of
standard props such as ring and rope, one coin routine, Benson Bowl, Egg Bag, Remote Viewing Die,
etc. The Comedy Comeback Card fits well into this type of set.

Very fine effect but a bit cumbersome to learn. I gave it 4 (vs 5) stars since I felt the
explanation was not as complete as I've come to expect. Instructions were printed on 3 pages and
provided a web site to view the actual effect being performed by Martin Lewis at the Magic Castle.
Having a more detailed video explanation available on "My Penguin Magic" would have been extremely
welcome. (I can read...but I learn much faster with a visual explanation.) While I'm pleased to
now own the effect, I would have expected a bit more for the $65 price tag.

This is a great opener I used to do the 5 card repeat till date and now this is the one I perform
for a parlor / stage effect.

This is a great stand-up effect if you don't have people behind you. I do suggest that you also get
the book "Making Magic" and the download "At The Table Live Lecture - Martin Lewis October 21st
2015." Both are worthy in their own right, but with respect to the Comedy Comeback Card, each has
subtleties mentioned that neither of the others do. The lack of these subtleties dropped the rating
of this product from a 5 down to a 4.
