"I've been a fan of Allan's work for over 20 years. His methods are always direct and diabolical, and his presentations motivate everything. He's the real deal, and this trick is another example. Deeply fooling, unique method, practical, and a fun, engaging presentation. Wonderful. I can’t wait to do it!"
- Will Fern

"I just added this beauty to my impromptu repertoire—and YOU should, too. Buried Treasure is a great presentational hook to get spectators involved. Deceptively simple and plays VERY strong! BTW, if you don't have a compass on you (I probably wouldn't), you can spin an empty bottle, a table spoon, or a pen to determine 'the direction to go next'. Or get goofy and have
someone close their eyes and spin around to face a random part of the room, effectively making them a human compass."
- Geoff Williams

"Allan has taken a great and very deceptive Dai Vernon effect and ramped it up considerably with a beautiful presentation. This is a fooler!" - John Carey

Allan Kronzek is not only a New York Times bestselling author, but he is a master of weaving presentations into thoroughly baffling tricks that engage and entertain an audience. Beginning with an interesting story based on the classic movie Treasure Island, and then performing an almost self-working card trick that is highly interactive, you’ll not only find an audience member’s selected card, you’ll find out how much fun it is to perform Buried Treasure.

Here’s what happens:

The magician tells his audience that they will go on a bit of a treasure hunt, a deck is shuffled, a card is selected, and then lost in the deck. The audience volunteer takes a sizable portion of the deck and then walks however many paces a cut to card tells them, then deals a small pile of cards. The process is repeated a few times until finally, they come to where X marks the spot. The magician digs down through the last heap of cards to discover the treasure that is the selected card.

Building on the work of Bob Long and Dai Vernon, this engaging effect allows the audience to follow the cards and let their fingers do the walking. The secret is simple but devastatingly effective and will fool lay audiences and magicians alike. There are almost no moves required, and no marks, stacks, or memorization. This is Buried Treasure by Allan Kronzek

Good but you'll need spectator's time Report this review

Good trick if you get time from the audience. Not a quick one but would be good for kids too. Make sure you got some fun props to gussy it up with. Like saying goes- It's the trip not the trick.

This is a really cool trick in which you can involve 1 to three or four spectators, get them to take part in an interesting and amusing way with a fun presentation that's nearly self working. Highly recommended.

Very much self working miracle that will take your subjects far,far away into no man's land and reveal their buried selection on the 4th turnover. The patter is a great distraction along with the finger walking.
Just a suggestion that would really drag them into a far away galaxy....when you get to the last pile and separate it to reveal the treasure....why not spread those cards (keeping eye on the treasure card) and knock them out with a "Pateo" Force" finish that reveals chosen card!!!!Maybe Allan might enjoy that? I love this track! Despite a lot of reviews saying there needs to be some special handling of the cards, I have found that I have not had to do much of that at all. It works exactly as the video shows pretty much every time. The reactions are fantastic. The video does show some additional handlings & techniques, all of which are worth paying for the trick just for those.

The principle is not really new, but its use here is particularly skillful; the affabulation is interesting, the spectators are involved and this considerably renews the effect...

Most card tricks are cut and dry. Pick a card.......is this your card? Buried Treasure makes a common staple in magic interesting and fun! Every audience I've done it for have loved it!

Easy, fun to perform, good effect Report this review

I thoroughly enjoy this trick. It is easy to learn, easy to perform (with just a bit of practice), and very difficult for spectators to figure out how it could possibly work. The principles used were clever and mostly new to me. The teaching video was well done and did a good job of covering everything that needed to be covered. Allan Kronzek's set-up patter is too long for my taste, but I like the basic plot (map to pirate treasure) and the ability to give out multiple roles (map-maker, treasure seeker, navigator, card selector) for a group.

The title says it all. Any time, any place, any deck - borrowed is fine, shuffled by spectator.

All you need to be able to do is count!

A worker. Get it.

Terrific. The reveal is great. But the real fun is in the process of getting there. So many chances for humor and engagement with a group while carrying this out.

so clean! Report this review

About 3 minutes into the instruction as the method is revealed I actually said out-loud to myself "man, that is so good."

The method is simple and clean. I'm not a student of magic like many of the people here are, so it might be a method you are aware of, but I haven't seen anything like it.

I love the fact that the cards are in the audiences hand's almost the entire time as they do the work.
