For the price, this is a good way to have a dollar size shell set for coins across or whatever. Using a poker chip is nice because they are universal to every nation. You don't have to worry about explaining a coin from one country to another. Also, the price of this makes it perfect for a venue where you don't want to break out your expensive silver dollars and shell.

There are problems with this though. First, the shell doesn't go all the way down and there are white stripes on the side of the chips. That means unless you line the shell and chip up perfectly, there is a discrepancy that can be noticed if you don't keep it moving. Granted, most spectators won't know what to look for even if they see it, but it's something that's a shortcoming to using poker chips rather than coins with milled edges.

Also, the shell is incredibly fragile. Just holding it makes you feel like you're handling an egg shell. You will have to keep this nested when not in used and definitely keep it protected. I think any hard contact with a floor or squishing it in your pocket in a coin purse could be catastrophic. Of course, at $25 a pop you can easily replace this a few times before it becomes a problem, as long as you keep that in mind.

For what you're paying for it, this is a great way to keep a cheap shell set in your close-up case for a demonstration that's different from what other folks have seen before. Just treat the shell with respect and you should be fine.
