From the mind of Daniel Garcia comes a torn and restored card routine that will make you smile.

"You've got a great smile." -- Daniel Garcia

A card is selected and signed.

You explain: Your "secret" is a small "CRIMP" you put in the card so you can find it.

You demonstrate: Your "CRIMP" is actually a hilariously large chunk that you tear off of the corner of their signed card.

You explain: This "CRIMP" allows you to cut to their selection "just by feeling for the missing part".

You confess: There's one small problem with your method... sometimes a spectator with "a highly trained eye" will notice the extra piece. With this, you pick up the torn chunk of card from the table and place it on top of the spectator's signed card.

You give the deck a couple of tiny shakes to position the CHUNK into place. As you wipe your thumb over the tear, the card is VISUALLY restored.

Immediately hand your spectator their signed card. It's COMPLETELY RESTORED.

Now take a moment to relax and enjoy and bathe in love. You're completely re-set for the next table.

I agree completely that the gimmick is easy to spot, but I also want to mention that this effect is not as easy as people say it it. You can practice for hours, but there is always a feasible chance that your sleight of hand is not flawless. One tiny slip will expose the trick, and I'm talking about a tiny slip that can happen to experts. Even if it's done right, there's a chance the gimmick will be spotted after the trick is over by someone who's not poring over the restored card. This trick definitely has potential and you may get it to work ninety percent of the time, but it is not Daniel Garcia's most bulletproof trick.

Dont listen to other reviews that say you can see the gimmick or that it has to be in low light situations. They probably just didn't make theirs so well. You really can't see it and proof is, look at the video; the gimmick is in full view. Could you see it?

Very practical, believable rip, slick and insanely visual restore, and its instantly reset.

If you want a good rip and restore trick with cards, this is probably the most visual, easy, and practical version.

This trick is a great trick to do, but it is a bit tricky to master. It is a simple trick to do but a bit more to master. The problem with this trick is that if you are left handed yo may find it slightly more difficult to do. You could remake the gimmick the opposite way but i find the trick isn't as strong because they don't have the corner of the card with the value and suit in there hand. I do still Recommend this trick to slightly more advanced magicians. 4 Star ****

Well, it's a good trick. Easy to master, at least for me.

Biggest upside:

You will tear one card only for all the performances.

Biggest downside:

It's not even that bad, you will have to have a duplicate card when making the gimmick for yourself, the gimmick btw is really easy to make. And you will need a double backer and a few extra card to rip up

Save your money on this one. Order torn instead, it's well worth the money, although it takes some practice. If you're in well lit conditions, or showing this effect to someone with an IQ over 10, they'll figure it out.

I've always been a big fan of Mr Garcia's Magic. I've had this trick for a while and always had good reactions. Now what Daniel didn't go through, is that you need to perform it at the right time for the right people, which is most of the time when people are having a good time. I think most magic DVD's are missing out "audience management", which it is as well. To get the best reaction, you need to "pause" and let the audience take everything in for people to get good reactions (e.g. When you rip the corner, pause and give them the corner, take it back, let them see the corner on the deck, and then restore corner........ Best "pause" and reactions you get for a TnR). You also need to control the timing of when you do the moves (which isn't hard). If you watch how he does the moves and follow what he does, it is completely worth every penny and worth the reactions because that's what magic is all about ;).
When I was watching the Gimmick section, I made first try and used it for months, it was soo good.
This is personally one of my favourite tricks to perform all time. The DVD production is really good and Daniel's teaching is always great. All up, great buy, great quality and last's a long time and great reactions. Top Product.

i bought this trick the other day and have been working on it since then, but i have realized that the only way it is effective is in extremely low light situations. in any other type of light the gimmick becomes incredibly obvious, and anyone with half a brain can spot it. i don't think i will ever actually use this.
