Crystal Spelling

Dani DaOrtiz teaches you an impossible triple coincidence trick where three thought-of cards are spelled too from a thoroughly shuffled deck. The effect, Crystal Spelling, is easy to set up and even easier to perform. Now set up in easy-to-follow chapters of The What, The How, and The Way, learning the magic of Dani DaOrtiz is even easier than ever before.

The What
The deck is taken out of the box, and piles of cards are handed out to spectators who shuffle them. One spectator is chosen as The Boss. This spectator cuts off a small packet of cards from their heap and secretly counts the number of cards under the table, and remembers the number. They silently share that number with the other spectators, concealing the number from the magician. Every spectator with a packet looks at the card in their packet located at the position of the secret number from The Boss. The packets are reassembled into a complete deck. The first spectator reveals their card. The magician deals out cards, spelling the name of the card, and the very next card is that of the first spectator. The second spectator reveals their card and then deals cards spelling the name of the card they picked. They, too, discover their card! The third person reveals their card, and it is also impossibly located at the position the magician spells too.

The How
Right off the top, Dani teaches you the method to this incredible effect. This powerhouse routine requires no sleight of hand. You will learn a clever system and mathematical principles that allow the cards to be freely shuffled by your audience. Despite their free actions, you can spell to the selected cards every time.

The Why
One of the most powerful weapons of the chaos magician is the spectator themselves. In this lesson, you will learn multiple techniques to give your audience the illusion of control. You are actually using carefully defined principles of chaos and open movement to convince the laypeople that everything is above board. The true secret is that you are in complete control.

The Chaos Project is a year-long course in learning some of the devious methods and principles that make the magic of Dani DaOrtiz so deceptive. The fourth lesson is a masterclass in audience management. Welcome back to the chaos with Dani Daortiz in Chapter 4 of The Chaos Project.

Humorous, but hard to understand Report this review

It may just be me but I need subtitles with everything these days. For example, he asks, "what is the six?" Is that the sixth card down from the top? At some point he says "put some on the top" and just throws cards on the deck and moves on without any explanation. He also slides cards around and doesn't say much. Do I need to replicate the move? Is this crucial to the trick? What did you just do? It's an hour long so I don't feel like rewatching a handful of times.... There are a few of those movements where I wished he talked and explained more about the trick but he joked around about something random but I guess that his thing.

Again, it's probably just me but this was a chaotic tutorial compared to anything I watched in the last decade. Anyway, I tried this multiple times and it's not a short video at all but I need much more explanation at those key moment like every other video will showcase. It's okay for the price and I'll continue to try this but I feel this could have been explained in 20 minutes with the right focus. What am I doing wrong?

Great Trick....but Report this review

Preparing the deck for this trick is a bit of a pain, but if you get it right the trick is unreal....no way anyone could ever figure this out...

The last explanation on the video shows you how to do it with a deck that is just shuffled I think....but because of the broken english (Sorry Dani) I couldn't understand how to do the trick impromptu. I watched it a few times but sorry I can't understand the explanation.

Can someone who bought this trick explain it in the forum?
Thanks.

Dani delivers again! What a great trick and with quite literally no sleight of hand. He is a genius at putting together great magic without the knuckle busting techniques that others demand. Buy it, you’ll love it,

Not Crystal Clear...In A Good Way Report this review

Even though I know how it is done, I DON'T know how it is done. Dani must spend untold hours coming up with these Chaos ideas but I love it. (In full disclosure I am also Spanish, as in Spain).

The effect can work with one person as well, although a bit more awkward. An the affect on the audience is dumbfounding. There is simply no explanation and reverse engineering is impossible.

Dani can get away with a lot with his personality and presentation style, but this trick works playing it a bit more straight up.

Overall, a great addition to the Project.

Don't hesitate Report this review

If you are here after watching the trailer for this one, don't hesitate to make the purchase! Such great value for a wonderful secret. Dani even hints at the fool us act method in this video explanation.
Only thing I'd call out is that whilst you can do this with a borrowed (full; has to be full) deck, its easiest outcome is achieved with a deck setup. And that's pretty much a full deck preparation. It's not a stack, though. The borrowed deck version requires a TINY little more mental agility.
I'll certainly be practicing this one, both versions.

This trick is soooo WORTH it! I don't want to reveal to much, but this is one of the only stack trick I perform. It's a crazy good trick, so fluid and simple to do, it will let your spectactors clueless!

I modify it a little bit so i can do it in french, added some simple script modification to make it more in my style and even create a marked deck just for that trick! Always charged and stack in my pocket!

This is one of my favorite chapters by Dani. Not only does he teach you the routine, but he teaches you how to use the methods for this routine for other excellent tricks. He also shows you how to do this in an impromptu way without having to set up the deck ahead of time. In this one video you will walk away with several possible routines you can use.

It will definitely be part of my routine.

Very Deceptive & Clever! Report this review

Another winner from a great magician. Could not grasp the 2nd phase though, I guess impromptu. Over my head. I'll stick with the prearranged version, which I like the best.

Very impressive effect Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on August 12th, 2023
As you can see from the trailer, four spectators each freely shuffle a packet of cards before the deck is reassembled, so there is clearly no way the performer can find the cards looked at, right? Wrong! With this clever self working effect you will impress your spectators mightily and have great fun doing it. I love tricks like this and so will you.

Phenomenal Trick Report this review
Verified buyer Pro Privacy ON (login to see reviewer names) on July 18th, 2023
I love a good sleight or a good gimmick, but most of all, I love a powerful trick that easy to do to allow my nervous a**e to focus on presentation. I just can't believe this trick. I performed it last night at my local Magic Circle (and won) and I still don't fully understand how it works. Dani, bless you for sharing it.
