Just received my refill. Suprise! I received an entire new reel. The new reel does have the new end caps so you can remove the core and replenish or replace the thread with a different type if you wish. If you're unfamiliar with how to do this check ITR on youtube where you won't find exact instructions for this reel but you'll be able to figure it out.
