It's amazing how much I've used this thing. I perform more than anything else I do. And the best part is that it really doesn't appear to be an effect until you restore the bill.

The basic effect itself is fairly easy to get down. Also, audience response on this thing is incredible. The fact that it's THEIR money makes the effect so much more shocking. The expressions you'll get from the ripping sequence are just priceless, especially when you reveal that the bill is restored. And, if you're worried about people questioning the pen, DON'T. Almost every time I've done this, people just want to see their dollar. If they do ask for the pen, there's an incredibly easy way to clean up naturally and hand it out to be examined.

Others have mentioned quality was an issue. This was one of the things I was worried about. The pens aren't fine writing instruments but they're pretty decent quality and have held up pretty well so far.

One evening, I left the pen in "writable-mode" on the coffee table while some people were over. Someone even picked up the pen and used it to write down a phone number without noticing a thing (like they should. the pen looks completely normal). Then someone mentioned if anyone had seen the new bills. I immediately thought to myself "Yes! Perfect performance opportunity!". He took out his own bill to show everyone. I now had the perfect situation to perform so I started saying how apparently there's this new security feature that is only found on the newer bills. I asked if anyone had a pen. "Here's one!". Perfect. Threw in some more patter and BAM pen was through the dollar. Got a few "Hey!" 's and "Wow that's nice of you" 's. The illusion is completely convincing. As magicians, we tend to think this is a magical part of the effect. It's not. At this point, the audience believes that you actually stabbed their bill. Got a bunch of gasps when I ripped out the pen and restored it. They grabbed at the bill amazed and confused without even asking for the pen. I cleaned up the pen and set it down but no one even asked to see it. Everyone was talking about it the whole night.
I love this so much because of how practical it is and how easy it is to do at the drop of a hat. I bring it EVERYWHERE and have gotten so much mileage out of it.
I would also highly recommend getting Oz's DVD with it. Just read the reviews on that page. It is also a fantastic buy.

Overall, if you don't buy this for the steal of a price that it is, you're cheating yourself. So do yourself a favor, stop reconsidering, debating, and changing your mind and add the damn thing to your cart already.

If you're questioning buying this effect..DON'T... BUY IT NOW!!!! it is WELL worth the money and then some.. One of the most visual effects I've ever used.. and I've used them all!!

I didn't realize how good this trick is until I got it for free on a promo but I sure to order another to have on hand as well as to get the DVD. The instructions are very good. The pen looks indistinguishable from a cheap ball point pen and can be handed out for examination. Pulling the pen out of a stuck bill and restoring the hold is mind boggling.

Great effect! You just get what you pay for in terms of build quality and durability of the pen/gimmick.

I just received this and was hoping something better or similar to Pen Through Dollar (also by Penguin), but was disappointed by the pen. I can't say what exactly disappointed me about it without giving the gimmick away, but I will say that if you are looking for an effect like this, go with Pen Thru Dollar. It costs about 3 dollars more, but the design of the pen is much better (again, I can't be specific) and will have much easier handling...

The original Pen thru dollar is an effect many people have heard of throughout the world. What Oz Pearlman did was bring a classic trick and added originality and something people haven't seen before to an act.

It comes with a pen with the gimmick and an instructional DVD with tips and 3 ways to poke the hole in the dollar, and 2 ways to take it out. The DVD also has many helpful hints like what to do when the gimmick accidentally falls.

Oz Pearlman also gives his original trick to us where the dollar goes inside the pen.

It is an excellent order at a very reasonable price. Every magician should learn this trick and place it in their routine.

I guess it is a good trick if done perfectly. But when I did it the first time for my kids they both saw through it. Sigh..more practice.

It looks like an ordinary bic pen, and nobody suspects a thing. I pretend to grab it from the bar and then fool the crap out of people. In terms of bang for buck, it doesn't get better than this. Best money spent ever.

I purchased this inexpensive trick to see Rick's handling of the pen. It is MUCH cheaper than Sharp Shot and really well constructed. Stealth Pen COULD be a better effect than Sharp Shot because you end so clean. The m*****s that make the trick work, however, are pretty weak. It is easy to expose the effect with their low power. With Sharp Shot you get some very beefy components.
