This booktest is AWESOME!
I used this book test to close my stage show, and it really
knocked em dead!
It gets a bunch of people involved in the trick immediately, and it's got
a lot of moments for comedy.
I love the fact that with the knowledge of this trick, I could
apply it to so many other ideas.
This is some great work! I love it.

No one would ever suspect a thing. The instructions are concise (15 minutes), yet deep enough to
cover every detail you should know.

I was pointed to Spineless in a Magic Cafe forum discussing the recently released and very similar
Random Happenings which costs significantly more (though it does come with props/gimmicks and
Spineless is just the DVD). The DVD is a concise, direct, well taught tutorial of Mr. Long's routine
and runs at about 15 minutes. It's a flexible enough method and I'll be modifying it for my own
purposes. There's not much new in the method, rather, it's a modification of existing techniques.
The Bill Simon Prophecy move in particular is elegantly adapted to Spineless by Mr. Long. Well done
sir. If you're looking for a variant version of a book test consider Spineless.
I first saw Chad perform this at a Penguin Live mini lecture in San Diego a few months ago. I liked
it, but held off purchasing it at the time. Now that I've performed it a few times, the focus in now
on my presentation. I chose to use a book by David Baldacci that I've actually read and seen the
movie made by Clint Eastwood. That allowed me to add some trivia about it in my patter and being a
popular movie, was familiar with some of the people in the audience. In setting up the performance,
I found about a dozen pages with good alternate words to use should I need to repeat the effect.
Terrific book test it is easy to make it even easier to do. Spectacular and magical.
Great thinking and fun to do.
Makes a lot of sense.
Beginner or Pro? Add to cart! You WILL love this!!!
The routine/presentation itself is
hilarious!
The method is drop dead easy, a 5th grader can do this, technically speaking,
within 5 minutes of receiving the effect. This give the Pros the advantage of being able to do 2
things at once, deliver a great presentation while not worrying about execution of method.
You'll likely slap your forehead and think, 'Why didn't I think of THIS?' Took Chad to bring
this along to it's apex!!! ENJOY!
I wasn't familiar with Chad--and when I bought this there were only three, albeit rave, reviews
here--but I am sure glad that I got this one. It is novel (yeah, a pun) and excellent--a book test
with a torn-apart paperback. And Chad is just so funny. I don't think that I've laughed as hard
for an instructional video since I watched the crazy Jasper Blakeley perform as Kochov.
The
method is really ingenious and incorporates an unusual, but really useful, sleight. This is the best
kind of pro routine. It isn't complicated so you can work on your comedy routine.
Now you
are going to have to supply your own paperback and thesaurus or dictionary. I know what some of you
are thinking: This is $20, and I don't get what I need, what gives? Trust me, this one-trick DVD is
well worth the $20 and the few extras that you need. Anyway, the only other thing missing here is a
note that the reveal in Spineless owes a tip of the hat to Larry Becker's Flashback series. For
those of you who use Final or Ultimate, you will love this too.
