In this Dvd are some really good tricks some not, thou i can still recommend it.

I was hesitant to purchase this video since it was so cheap and I'd never heard of Ross before, but I'm so glad the salesman at Tannens talked me into it. This is a wonderful video and goes into the theory of mentalism and doesn't just show you effects and moves on.

I have to say the first few effects aren't that great. They're more demonstrations than any kind of mentalism. Stick with it though, because things really get good as it goes on. I found five routines I used almost immediately, and that's almost unheard of for me! Most of the time I'm lucky to find 2 effects on the same DVD I actually want to use, but Ross has put together some incredibly simple mental magic that is easy enough for a beginner but that blows away even seasoned magicians if done properly.

Don't get me wrong: you aren't going to fool everyone every time. And since this is mentalism it's going to depend on you to be the showman and sell the effect, but for the amount of practice and effort you have to put into them (not to mention the fact that ALMOST all of these have no chance of failure if done properly), you can't beat it.

The only major change I immediately saw was Omar's Prophecy. As Ross does it, there is that chance of messing up at the beginning just to prove a point...but there's no reason for it. If you apply the last two principles to the first one you have zero chance for failure. He even mentions doing this in his explanation, but still feels his way works best to show the "1 in 3" on the paper. I adapted the handling for parts 2 and 3 into part 1 (which eliminates the chance of missing with your prediction) and have never had anyone question it. Other than that, you're pretty much ready to go out of the box with this video. Awesome magic at an incredible price!

No where on this page does it state that it's a beginners product. I bought it because of the description and am very unhappy with it. For a beginner it's fine. I am not unhappy with the other Penguin products I've bought, just this one.

This DVD has some ideas that made me rethink some of the things I do. As a working magician I realize the average audience doesn't know the difference between technical sleights or simple. In fact, much of the simpler techniques get a better reaction because it looks like you do nothing. I have a version of Triumph that I've done for 10 years, it has a mentalist bend to it and its simple. Someone who is not a magician doesn't know the difference, its all how you perform it. Because of this DVD I've found simpler ways to accomplish things I already do and now they get a bigger reaction.

It's inexpensive but good for the contents. Every magic is excellent. The explanation is also easy to understand. I'd recommended this DVD for everyone.

THERE IS SO MUCH GOOD STUFF IN THIS DVD....SOME VERY GOOD AND SOME NOT SO NEW BUT,WITH THIS EFFECT YOU CAN DO A LOT OF EFFECT WITHOUT DIFFICULT MOVE OR EXPENSIVE PROPS..I AGREE WITH Brian Reaves from Alabama IN THE CRITIQUE OF THE POSSIBLE MISSING PREDICTION OF THE FIRST PART OF THE Omar's Prophecy BUT THE REST OF THE MATERIAL IS GOOD.SIMPLE AND STRONG.

This is a very good DVD for the beginner and I was able to pick up some really good ideas from it.

There are some outstanding mentalism effects demonstrated and explained in this excellent DVD. My three favorite are the drawing duplication, lie detector and change in pocket prediction. These are really strong effects when presented as Ross teaches.

The drawing duplication method is brilliant. The subject can be in a separate room when they make their drawing, seal it in foil, then seal it in an envelope - and hold on to it. No clip board, no impression pad, no electronics, nothing most people would ever consider. So good. This one effect is worth much more than the price of the DVD.

Also make sure to check out Ross' Penguin live lecture. It is one of the best mentalism lectures I've ever seen.
