Overview/What you get: (5/5)
Look, I'm a simple guy. I see a Dr. Cyril Thomas effect, I
acquire it, practice it a bunch, and then use it almost daily to great effect! This effect is very
straightforward but took a bit of wrestling with it to get the whole thing down.
You get
one 15-minute download, which shows off the effect, and then teaches it.
Pros:
* It
looks really good. The 2 "phases" work together to really hide the method.
* You can get
into it without any setup
* Being able to do the effect with a rubber band and a wide
variety of other objects (linking ring style ring, coffee mug handle, etc) is an interesting twist.
Cons: these are all minor and subjective!
* It's slightly angle sensitive, so keep that
in mind
* It will take some time to figure out how to get into the 2nd phase down, and the
download isn't super clear on it.
* #19 Rubber bands (the common Joe Rindfliesch band size)
are likely not the best band for this, so you'll need to experiment slightly to find the right fit
for you
Ease of Learning/Performance: (4.5/5)
This trick isn't super difficult, but it
takes plenty of practice to make it look as convincing as Dr. Cyril does in the trailer, and any
sloppiness really does spoil the illusion.
Instruction (4/5)
The instructions for this
effect are all shot from one angle, and the directions used for the 2nd phase of the effect are not
super clear. I ended up muting the video and just watching the motion over and over, because trying
to coordinate what he was saying with what was happening actually made it harder to figure out.
That being said, the video was clear enough, and well produced enough that I was able to get it
down fairly quickly, despite that minor set-back.
Verdict:
There are so many reasons to
get this, and almost no reason not to. If you ever do close up magic, you should learn this and add
it in.

This is fantastic. Full stop. Now, please indulge me for a moment. Every magician has been burned by
a performance video. You buy the trick and realize it's simply not AS ADVERTISED. This isn't that!
It's fooling as hell. Fun and easy to do. And I bet the more I play with it the more I'll use it
for. Worth every penny.

The video recording is out of focus too many times and is distracting.
Have the camera
fixed.
Can we have views of ‘method’ from performer’s perspective, not from audience view
?
This would make it much easier to follow and learn.

I'm working on it and it does take some practice. But part of the problem is the bad camera angle -
only from the spectator's point of view. If the camera could have shot the video, in part, from
over his shoulder, it would have been better.

No gimmicks short tutorial visual penetration. Would have been five stars but DR.Cyrill did not
mention the gauge of rubber band needed for the effect. It has to bigger than 19 gauge, a doubled up
rubber band causes to much tension but a 19 gauge is not enough. If you like rubber band magic you
will like this effect, but you may need to experiment with different gauges, of rubber bands to what
works for you.

Dr.Cyril Thomas once again shows us why he's the King of Rubber Band Magic. This effect is super
visual and easy to perform. No crazy twists or odd hand movements. Perfect trick to add to my
repertoire.

I thought I had this figured out from Instagram videos but was totally wrong. His method is actually
so simple and easy that I said no FN way out loud in front of my family when watching the video on
my phone and they all just thought I'd seen the second coming of Christ almost, but to rubber band
magic. Please don't stop creating mon ami Dr Cyril!
