I agree with Mr. Anonymous.
Over the years I spent lot of money on magic tricks, most of the
time I regret it afterwards, but in case of Sleeve Star I don't regret single cent.
I don't
even understand why Mr. David Jay do not keep the secret for him self (I would).
The true
is........every magician all over the world trying to find out the way how to get an object from
point A to point B without any moves. The answer is "Sleeve star".
It took me about 20 minutes
to set it up in my jacket, but it only require 1 set up and off to go. No reset.
After about 2
hours of practising (mainly my rusty sleeving techniques) and I was able to perform real miracles.
Now....I have my sleeve star over two days and already thinking to buy one or two more, so I can
put it in all of my jackets.
With regrets I have to say I didn't get my first Sleeve star from
penguin (they are my favourite on-line store), but I was fortunate enough to get it on Magic
convention in England, where I saw David performing it live on stage.
I'm also very happy
that the price is high, so many professional magicians will think twice to buy it. Basically......
less magicians will have it = more fun I'll have to trick them.
I think this is the one of
the best thing I got in very long time.

I very seldom write reviews but I thought I would weigh-in on this one. For starters I now own two
of them. Why? Well...I use a topit, a jacket, a body servant. Each one is a killer utility device,
but now I've added the sleeve star and now I'm ready to present several effects that simply haven't
been able to be performed as cleanly or as magically with other methods.
Ok, yes...you could
say I'm a fan! In fact I wish I had thought of it...but David Jay did and I'll give him the respect
he deserves for it.
The video goes into as much detail as you could hope for regarding set-up
as well as use and as far as the effects, you are shown several options. The unit's design was
really well thought out, and is made of top quality materials. As for set-up, a temporary method is
shown as well as a permanent method for dedicated clothing. This is what I used and am very
satisfied.
NOTE: Do not purchase this device expecting or hoping for a self-working trick
or especially a substitute for real sleeving. On the contrary, to use this device, you must
understand and be able to exicute sleeveing with proper technique. You must also wear a jacket ar at
least a shirt. However the good njews is if you don't already sleeve, this will give you plenty of
motivation to learn a skill that will stay with you for the rest of your magical career. This was
one of my best purchases this year. Good luck!

My name is Michael from Paris.
I'm professional performer for last 15 years.
After seeing
the demo for sleeve star I was skeptic at first, but now it is permanent addition to all my close-up
acts. Every once a while someone comes with something new, something unique, something great.
Sleeve star is one of the best addition to my act in recent years and J will gladly recommend it
to all professional performers I know.
As there is no reset what so ever is also one of the most
convenient effect to be performed on the spot without any preparation.
Unlike the review below,
I'm very happy to put my name here (I don't think the gentlemen from San Francisco have the product
in the first place.)
Here in Paris we have quiet large community of Sleeve star fans already.
Sleeve star = invention of the year.
I would also like Mr. David Jay make a DVD just on
sleeving and without any gimmicks.

I really like this effect, but it's seriously overpriced. It does exactly what they say it does,
that's for sure. However, there's likely not worth of material and construction time in this
gimmick. The majority of what you're paying for is someone's intellectual property, and the margin
is simply too high.
With some practice, you'll be sleeving well, and with a little thought
put into your wardrobe you'll be capable of performing this effect to perfection. Don't be fooled
by the DVD though, I guarantee that David isn't using this thing installed via the method they
outline. He has done what you should do, and visited a seamstress to ensure that this gimmick is
properly aligned and installed into your jacket (Gregory Wilson pretty much already outed the item
this far).
I recommend the item for functionality, but have docked it heavily due to the
price. I don't mind someone making a car payment or two off of me, but I don't want to buy someone
a car. At this is a much better value.

The Sleeve star is really good.
It enables me to do things which I could not achieve with just
sleight of hand.
I prefer to use spectators finger ring instead of coins, but the 3fly routine
is certainly the cleanest things you can all do. Imagine three different coins, all signed travels
from one hand to another hand without funny moves is brilliant. I'll give it 10 out of 10 if I
could.

Got it over a yr.a.(most expensive and overpriced trick so far :( and it's in a drawer since . Good
idea but .. one needs to be a master sleever already to have any use !
Vid wastes most of the
time on how to use safety pins on fabric (ridiculous) and almost no time on sleeving technique .
Disappointed.

Looks fine, Works well with descent practice and correct attire. Nice Packaging, poor quality DVD,
Horrible audio, David was fine but host was interrupting, hard to really see proper setup, horrible
DVD production!!!!

This is awesome, period. Sorry but I sure would like to B-slap some of the reviewers here. It seems
that many magicians want everything to work immediately for them without putting a little time and
practice in, shame on you, try skydiving... :) ... or they pick apart a DVD because the sound
changed at a moment when they turned from the mic, it's no big deal. The DVD is to teach you the
magic, not show magicians walking down train tracks, over bridges, with the sky changing colors just
to show a darn trick. This DVD is very well produced and Craig did a great job of helping DJ present
this effect and showed all aspects of set-up and execution. If you don't want to put a few of hours
of work in go by the automatic color changing silks or a square circle.
This is for a
magician who wants to create a miracle moment, and this delivers in spades. To me intellectual
property is just that and it's worth hundreds of dollars if you know how to use it, here you get an
excellent, well thought out gimmick as well. If it didn't work for you you're doing it wrong, go
back and watch the DVD again because it's your mistake!
I think the price is fine for the
great effect you get, more than fine. If you don't know how to sleeve you can learn it here and even
a simple dropping the coin down the sleeve will work with misdirection and allow you to perform
these effects with ease. If you are a real close up guy or worker, buy this - you need it. You will
fry people, again - PERIOD...

ever heard the expression "whats up your sleeve?" it goes without saying that those giving this
product low ratings do not own sewing kits... or have the time or patience to make use of such a
brilliant tool. i am working on a special suit that will allow me to perform a few crazy miracles
and adding the sleeve-star is probably the coolest modification i have added so far.
